The 2026 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Boyd Yellowjackets enter the 2026 season with significant momentum following a dominant 2025 campaign. Last year, the team finished with a 34-7 record, securing a District Championship and advancing to the 3A State Semi-Finals. Under the leadership of Head Coach Brad McIntire, who holds nearly 300 career wins and led the program to a state title in 2023, the Yellowjackets are once again positioned as a premier contender in the 3A classification.

The team’s primary strength lies in its powerful pitching staff and athletic lineup. The rotation is anchored by high-level talent, including Texas A&M commit Will McIntire, who was the District MVP and a 1st Team All-State selection last season. He is joined by Richmond commit Elijah Webber, the reigning District Pitcher of the Year, and UT-Tyler commit Colton Patton, who earned District Offensive Player of the Year honors. This veteran group of arms is supplemented by a deep bullpen featuring four returning relief pitchers.

Offensively, Boyd returns seven positional starters, ensuring a high level of experience and continuity. In addition to Patton, the lineup features key returners such as 1st Team All-District outfielder Keelan Clary and catcher Stephen Webber. Major Jennings, the previous District Newcomer of the Year, also returns to provide further depth. While the team graduated standout players like Jax Heid and Evan Salinas, the influx of new talent including LHP Lane Beacham and freshman C/3B Nathan Vaden aims to help the Yellowjackets maintain their status as a state-level powerhouse.
