The Year In Review - 2025
Each of us here at PBR Ohio want to thank you for making 2025 the best year yet. We look forward to continuing to bring the best baseball coverage to the Buckeye State. Happy Holidays to all!
"2025 was an important year for Prep Baseball Ohio as we continued to refine how we evaluate, cover, and advocate for players across the state. A defining moment was the 2027 class going undefeated at the Future Games, which spoke to both the talent in the state and the standard our staff expects when representing Ohio. That performance set the bar high for future groups, and the continued trust from athletes, coaches, and college recruiters reinforced the direction we’re headed as we keep creating meaningful exposure and opportunities for Ohio prospects." - Kyle Weldon, Prep Baseball Ohio Director of Scouting
"2025 was another banner year for Prep Baseball Ohio and myself. From the relationships we've made and the experiences I had personally throughout these past 12 months, 2025 was a year to remember. Being able to help high school athletes reach their dreams of playing at the next level while building personal relationships is something I enjoy daily. The showcase season is great and I love everything about it, but as most who know me understand, I love the high school and summer seasons and I'd like to thank all who made those two seasons the best we could make them. Thanks to the interns that helped a bunch during the year, as well as all of our full time guys, each have brought something to Prep Baseabll Ohio that has made it what it is now. I also want to thank the outstanding hospitality provided by the OHSAA staff and the Akron Rubberducks MiLB organization at the state tournament. Last but certainly not least, thank you very much to the athletes, parents, coaches and all in the great Buckeye State. Have a great holiday season!"- Dylan Hefflinger, PBR Ohio Editor in Chief/Advanced Scout
"The idea of playing baseball beyond high school is a dream of so many. Listening to players express their future hopes on the ball diamond and then to tell their story is something I look forward to doing every year. That is just part of what made 2025 a fun year for me. Talking to high school coaches for season previews, watching regular-season and tournament games, and ultimately the state tourney, is always a highlight of any year. The Future Games is icing on the cake, with the opportunity to see the best of the best across the country. It is all very special. To be a part of the game of baseball in any capacity means so much to me." - Bruce Hefflinger, PBR Ohio Senior Writer
"2026 was another great year! Our staff provided maximum exposure for prospects by executing high level showcases and tournaments across the state. We grew closer as a staff and navigated new challenges as they arose. I'm very appreciative of the coaches, organizations and players for trusting in our brand. I'm excited for what is to come in 2026 and look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in the recruiting process for amatuer baseball players." - Luke Wolford, PBR Ohio Vice President of Operations and Multimedia

Future Games - Team Ohio
UPDATE THIS SPOT The 13th annual Future Games took place on July 24-27 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2027 and 2028 participated in one of the most popular events of the year.
There were 32 teams, including Team Ohio, with players representing 44 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players were put through a showcase workout on Thursday. More than 400 college coaches from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event.
“The players get to represent Ohio and show the rest of the country and college coaches how competitive baseball is in our state,” Weldon explained. “This group of players was scouted for over a year-and-a-half to determine who would be a good representation of our state. It takes a combined effort from everyone on our staff throughout the year to gather and organize information in a way that enables us to make a good decision on a player.”
Weldon was pleased with what he witnessed out of the Ohio squad, which was made up of 25 players from the 2027 class.
“This team was special for us,” Weldon noted. “They’re the first group from Ohio to go down to LakePoint and sweep. Night one got a little shaky on the mound, but our offense did a good job of continuing to apply pressure to Team Michigan throughout the game. Against Kansas our pitching was lights out. We kept their hitters off balance and did plenty at the plate to create some separation in the middle innings of that game. Finishing up with Kentucky, it was back and forth. We gave up the lead late but put enough traffic on the bases in our last trip to the plate to force some runs across and come away with our third win.
