2026 Itawamba Indians Team Preview

The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Itawamba Agricultural High School enters the 2026 season coming off a strong 26–10 campaign that saw the Indians reach the third round of the MHSAA 4A playoffs under head coach Steve Kerr. Competing in Region 2, Itawamba AHS returns a proven core of contributors on both sides of the ball, giving the program a solid foundation to build on this spring. With postseason experience throughout the roster, expectations remain high as the team looks to take another step forward.

Offensively, the Indians are anchored by a talented group of returning position players, led by multi-tool outfielder and left-handed pitcher Evan Summers (2026, Itawamba CC), whose athleticism impacts the game in all phases. Ashton Hoots (2027) brings versatility as a corner infielder, and right-handed arm, while Aidan Strong (2026, Itawamba CC) provides stability in the middle infield at second base and adds value on the mound. Shortstop Jace Edwards (2027) rounds out the group as a dependable defender with growing offensive upside, giving Itawamba a strong up-the-middle presence.

On the mound, the Indians return a reliable trio in Strong, Hoots, and Summers, all of whom logged meaningful innings during last season’s playoff run. Their experience and ability to fill multiple roles should allow Itawamba AHS to manage games effectively and compete deep into the season. Additional depth comes from emerging arms such as Ace Rogers (2026) and TJ Duncan (2027), who are expected to contribute as the year progresses.

The roster is further bolstered by an influx of impact underclassmen, including Kullen Davis, Paxton Kerr, John Tyler Beane, Jevan Hughes, and Carsten Kent, a group that adds athleticism and long-term upside to the program. With a balanced mix of experienced returners and young talent, Itawamba Agricultural is positioned to be a factor in Region 2 once again and has the pieces in place to make another deep postseason push in 4A.
