Most-Viewed Profiles of 2025: No. 6 Ethan Bass

By: Pete Hamot
Assistant Scouting Director, Illinois & Wisconsin

MIF Ethan Bass (Glenbrook North, 2027; Wake Forest commit) comes in as our sixth most-viewed profile of 2025. Bass has long been a top-of-the-class talent, currently sitting at No. 2 in the state and No. 24 nationally. He has represented the Class of 2026 twice at our All-American Game and is set to attend our prestigious Super 60 event in a couple of months.

A natural athlete with the ability to play all over the diamond, Bass has loud tools across the board that should only continue to get better as he continues to mature. The right-handed bat is twitchy with some present strength, coming off a spring in which he earned Second-Team All-State honors after he hit .402 with 11 doubles, nine home runs, 40 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 29 walks, and 21 stolen bases.

From 5/24/25: “Wake Forest commit, currently ranked No. 2 in Illinois and No. 33 in the country. 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, lean with twitch and more room to add strength, highly athletic. Started at shortstop and hit out of the two-hole, finishing the day 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. The right-handed hitter has notable present bat-speed in his swing with athletic hands, staying back on spin and seeing it deep to drive it the other way for a double. Gave plus run-times throughout the day with a 4.19 down the line and 4.63 on a turn. Shortstop profile at the next level, confident hands with rhythm and timing, fluid feet with easy range to both sides of the glove, crisp glove-to-hand and transfers, makes double-play turns look easy to all angles. Arm can play on the move and from different slots, plays with easy strength and is quick to release. High-profile middle infield prospect, extremely versatile athlete that can impact the game in multiple ways, will be a draft follow this coming year.”

Now in his senior year, Bass will surely be looking to build off his success in 2025 as he’s one of the top draft prospects in the entire midwest.
