During the 2025 CIF baseball season, the Prep Baseball California staff logged coverage at more than 350 games across the Golden State. With that volume came an extensive look at the state’s pitching depth, as our evaluators consistently saw premium velocity from a wide range of arms. In total, 70 pitchers were clocked by our staff at 90 mph or higher throughout the spring, underscoring the continued rise of power arms coming out of California.
TOP LEADERS
Leading the way was Seth Hernandez (Corona HS, 2025), who sat at the top of the velocity leaderboard and ultimately became the sixth overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Our staff also recorded three additional arms reaching 95 mph:
Cameron Millar (Alhambra Senior HS, 2025), selected in the third round (97th overall) by the Kansas City Royals.
Angel Cervantes (Warren HS, 2025), a 2024 Prep Baseball All-American, now attending UCLA.
And Reagan Ricken (Great Oak HS, 2025), now playing baseball at LSU.
The sheer number of arms reaching the 90-mph threshold reflects both the depth and development of pitching talent across California. Below is the full list of every pitcher our staff evaluated and clocked at 90+ mph during the 2025 spring season.
