We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Choctaw County heads into the 2026 season riding the momentum of a 21-8 campaign that culminated in a Third Round playoff appearance in Class 3A. Under head coach Ben Tillman, the Chargers return a productive lineup and a solid pitching foundation, setting the stage for another competitive run in Region 4.

The offense brings back several impact bats, led by center fielder Jeramiah Miller (2026), who hit .416 and swiped 22 bases, giving the Chargers a dynamic presence at the top of the lineup. Vez Holman (2026) returns as a steady corner bat after posting a .298 average, while the 2028 class adds significant depth and upside. Brennan Telano (.309, 10 XBH, 19 RBIs) and Lawson Stevens (.347, 10 XBH, 24 RBIs) form a strong middle-infield/third-base combo, and Caeden Christensen (2028) contributes athleticism in the outfield with nine stolen bases a year ago.

On the mound, Choctaw County brings back left-hander Robby Curtis (2026), who went 3-0 with a 2.13 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 23 innings, anchoring the pitching staff. Telano and Stevens also return as reliable options, with Stevens holding opponents to a .194 batting average in limited innings. That trio provides flexibility and depth as the Chargers navigate the spring.

Additional depth comes from the 2027 class with Nic Nowell and Camden Johnson, while a talented group of underclassmen, including Marcari Holman (2029), Quincy Stevens (2029), Jeremiah Davis (2028), and Kip Lawrence (2028) adds to the program’s growing pipeline.

With a blend of proven production, athletic underclass talent, and returning pitching, Choctaw County looks well-positioned to remain a factor in Region 4-3A and make another postseason push in 2026.
