TEAM OUTLOOK

The Ocean View Seahawks enter the 2026 season under head coach Tanner Van Maanen looking to build momentum behind a pitching staff that remains the foundation of the program. After a 12–17 campaign in 2025 and CIF Southern Section Division 5 Playoff appearance, Ocean View brings back four pitchers, giving the Seahawks a chance to stabilize games early as they look to take a step forward. While only two starters return overall, the experience on the mound should help bridge the gap as new offensive contributors settle into the lineup.

Senior C Sevinn Thorndike (2026) provides an important veteran presence behind the plate, setting the tone defensively and working closely with a developing staff. LHP Austin Aldous (2027), a two-year varsity player, projects as a key piece for the rotation, offering impact innings on the mound with some promise at the plate as well. His experience should be valuable as Ocean View leans on underclassmen and newer faces throughout the lineup.

The Seahawks will also look for continued growth from younger players such as Conor Baird (2028), who represents the next wave of talent in the program. With pitching depth as a clear strength and opportunities available across the field, Ocean View’s 2026 season will hinge on player development and consistency. If the Seahawks can complement their arms with improved execution offensively, they have the potential to exceed last season’s results.

Quote from the Coach

“We’re a very young team, with plenty of room for new guys to carve out spots on the roster and compete.”
