As we continue our march through the Top 10 Stories of 2025, we’ve officially reached the top five! Today’s story shines another national spotlight back onto the Bluegrass State.

Each year following the conclusion of the high school season, Prep Baseball releases its final National High School Rankings, highlighting the most talented programs across the country. In 2025, Kentucky was represented near the very top of that list, as Trinity High School finished the year ranked #6 nationally.

The Shamrocks’ place among the nation’s best was no coincidence. Trinity re-established itself as one of the premier high school baseball programs in America, turning in its most complete season since the historic 41–2 state championship run in 2021. They closed the spring with a 39–3 overall record, went 12–1 in the ultra-competitive 7th Region, and capped it all off by yet another KHSAA State Championship victory. From Opening Day through the postseason, the Shamrocks leaned on depth, experience, and electric talent across the roster. They spent the majority of the spring ranked #1 in Kentucky, and nationally climbed from a preseason #17 ranking into the Top 10, never once slipping outside the Top 50 all year. For Kentucky baseball, Trinity’s #6 national finish represents that Kentucky has what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with traditional power states and proved that elite, high level baseball continues to thrive in the Commonwealth.

The construction of the roster told much of the story. Trinity featured 14 college commits spanning multiple levels of college baseball. The Shamrocks also rolled out seven Prep Baseball Future Games alumni, giving the roster a group of players already seasoned against national competition and comfortable on the biggest stages. That experience showed throughout the spring, especially in pressure moments. Whether it was navigating the gauntlet of the 7th Region or delivering in championship settings, Trinity played with confidence and composure that reflected a program built for dominance!

College commitments include:

Top 2025 Performers:

2025 SS/RHP Colin Sander
The smooth-moving LHH capped a strong 2025 senior campaign, batting .369 with 38 hits and 16 extra-base knocks. Working off a 5’11”, 185-pound athletic and wiry frame, he also flashed true two-way ability, logging 35 innings with 45 strikeouts against just 12 walks. He ran the fastball up to 90 mph in the 7th Region Tournament and paired it with a 73–74 mph changeup that showed real depth and swing-and-miss.

2026 OF/C Zach Floyd
The Louisville commit and 2024 Future Games alum posts a 5’10”, 178 lb athletic and twitchy frame, giving him smooth outfield actions with the versatility to slide into the infield when needed. He stacked up 40 hits as a junior, driving in 23 runs with 13 extra-base hits while leading the Shamrocks in stolen bases with 12, as well as limiting to just 17 strikeouts in 96 at-bats. Rolling into 2026, Floyd profiles as a key engine in the Shamrocks’ offense and a name expected to set the tone early.

2026 1B/OF Nolan Hosking
The Louisville commit brings a physical right-handed bat that covers the bottom of the zone and supplied big power this season, leading the team with eight home runs while driving in 37 runs and adding 10 extra-base hits as a true middle-order force. His clutch gene showed on the biggest stage… down to their final out in the state title game, Hosking unloaded a no-doubt shot to deep left to take the lead and ultimately deliver Trinity a championship. Rolling into 2026, the 2024 Future Games alum again profiles as a middle-of-the-order run producer and a must-track bat for the defending state champs.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-media-max-width="560"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">‘26 Nolan Hosking (<a href="https://twitter.com/TrinityHSBBall?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@TrinityHSBBall</a>) just hits an absolute no doubt moonshot 3 run HR. 2026 RHP/3B Grayson Willoughby
The Kentucky commit stands at 6’2” 185 lbs as an athletic and twitchy mover on the mound with real upside, and is just the starting point of what the Shamrocks return on the bump. Coming off a red-hot junior campaign tossing 40 innings, 54 strikeouts and only 18 walks, the 2024 Future Games alum will again be a must-follow arm in 2026. He already runs the fastball into the mid-90s with more in the tank, enters the year ranked #56 nationally, and is generating early draft buzz heading into his senior spring.

2027 RHP/SS Gray Davis
The Clemson recruit and 2025 Future Games alum packs a 6’1”, 195-pound physical, athletic frame and moves with smooth explosiveness on the mound. He turned in a dominant sophomore campaign going 11–0 over 63.2 innings with 73 strikeouts and a sub-1 ERA. The righty has been untouchable since arriving at Trinity, posting a 22–0 record with nearly 122 innings pitched and 137 strikeouts in two seasons. Ranked #141 nationally in the 2027 class, Davis pitches with a low pulse, owns big-game poise and will be a must-track arm for the Rocks next spring.

2027 LHP/OF Hudson Meredith
The Virginia recruit and 2025 Future Games alum works out of a smooth, athletic 6’1”, 195 lb frame and gives Trinity yet another arm capable of dominating innings. The skilled southpaw went 9–0 in 2025 while logging 37 innings and 52 strikeouts, showcasing a four-pitch mix and real projection. He enters 2026 as another nationally ranked name in the Shamrocks’ 2027 class, checking in at #238 and adding even more depth to an already loaded staff.

2027 OF/LHP Max Phillips
The Wake Forest commit is a silky-smooth mover with a lean, athletic, high-waisted 6’4”, 190 lb frame and enters 2026 ranked #67 nationally. He’s shown two-way upside as an athletic defender in the outfield with the ability to slide to first base, a smooth left-handed bat that offers contact feel with emerging power, and the ability to deal on the mound. Coming off a junior year where he served as a late-game bullpen weapon with six saves in just 13.1 innings, 17 strikeouts, and only 3 walks, the 2025 Future Games alum will be a name to follow on both sides of the ball in 2026.

Trinity’s #6 finish in the Prep Baseball National High School Rankings wasn’t the product of one breakout star or a short lived run, it was the result of a battle-tested roster executing at an elite level from start to finish!
