As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.
Top Hit Tool Class of 2028

Brooks Bond SS / Lewis Central Senior High School, IA / 2028

Brooks Bond might be the most polished hitter in the 2028 class that we saw all year. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound athletic sophomore shortstop stands out in the batter’s box with a calm, smooth—yet violent—left-handed swing.
Bond started on varsity as a freshman at Lewis Central High School and made an immediate impact, hitting .343 while leading the team in doubles (10) and on-base percentage (.516). He carried that success into the fall tournament season with a stacked Iowa Sticks team, hitting .444 with a .514 OBP and a 1.212 OPS, while leading his team in hits (28) and doubles (7).

Tough at bat at the top of the order. Also one of the best defensive SS in the region for the ‘28 class. @PrepBaseballKC // @PrepBaseballIA // @MW_Premier… pic.twitter.com/tco9T4BvtJ
