As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Hit Tool Class of 2028

Kameron Gillespie SS / RHP / Liberty, MO / 2028

We didn’t see many players with the all-around upside that Kameron Gillespie displays. Gillespie is a 6-foot, 167-pound athlete who impresses on both sides of the ball. He’s an on-base machine with one of the prettiest left-handed swings you’ll see from a 15-year-old, and he controls the strike zone as well as anyone.

Kam started at third base for Liberty this spring, earning Second Team All-Conference honors while hitting .280 with six doubles, 12 RBIs, and a .431 on-base percentage. Over the summer, he hit .397 with six doubles, four triples, and one home run, posting a 22-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He also played a huge role in the Cisneros group winning the KCPI Championship, leading off the title game with a solo home run.
