Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Fairview enters the 2026 season coming off a 15-18 campaign that resulted in a second straight playoff appearance after navigating another challenging schedule. While the Aggies were eliminated in the first round, much of last season was spent developing a young roster that regularly featured six sophomores and a junior in the lineup. That experience now pays dividends as Fairview returns a more mature, junior-led group looking to take the next step in Class 5A Area 15.

The Aggies are led by OF/RHP Camden Cullen (2027), an intriguing junior prospect who is expected to hit in the middle of the order and close games on the mound. Cullen’s two-way role gives Fairview a reliable presence in high-leverage situations. Anchoring the pitching staff is RHP/INF Jaxson Robertson (2026), who has served as the team’s ace for the past two seasons and posted an 8-4 record with a 2.62 ERA across 72 innings in 2025. At the top of the lineup, INF/RHP Connor Scott (2027) returns as a left-handed hitter with a high baseball IQ and enters his fourth year as a varsity starter. The infield also brings back INF/RHP Lincoln Wright (2027), a steady contributor defensively and on the mound, and INF Collin Nelson (2027), a versatile option capable of filling multiple roles across the field. On the mound, RHP Tanner Isbell (2027) emerged as the team’s No. 2 arm last season as a sophomore and is expected to take on a larger role in 2026. OF/RHP Hunter Barron (2027) also returns as another two-way option who adds depth to both the lineup and pitching staff. Pitching depth and defense stand out as Fairview’s primary strengths entering the season. With multiple returning arms capable of starting or filling key roles, the Aggies should be able to remain competitive throughout a demanding regular-season slate. Defensively, returning experience across the diamond provides consistency behind the pitching staff.

As head coach Nick Dumas noted, “This year's team is the most talented team we have had in my four years here. We will be a junior-led team with only one senior on the team. Our pitching depth and defense should allow us to be competitive in every game we play. We will play another challenging schedule to make sure we are battle tested for a playoff run.” With a largely intact core, improved experience, and clear strengths on the mound, Fairview enters the 2026 season aiming to build on its recent postseason appearances and push deeper into the Class 5A playoffs.
