SAN DIEGO, CALIF- Back on May 30th, 2025, Granite Hills High School capped a dominant 24-0-2 season by winning the CIF-SD Section Open Division Championship at San Diego State University under the lights, in front of a sold-out crowd of over 3,000 fans. The championship adds to the school's strong baseball history, where they won multiple titles in 1977 (first ever), 2016 (Div I), and 2021 (SoCal Regional D-III). The Eagles entered the title game led by a strong 2025 senior core that powered their success throughout the spring.
Brenden Lewis, Arizona State: .373 average, 8 home runs, 7 doubles, and 36 RBIs, along with a 7-0 record and 1.50 ERA
Trevor Smith, Washington State: .395 average, 4 home runs, 5 doubles, and 20 RBIs
Thomas Entrekin (Tommy), Cal Baptist: .429 average, which led the team, 7 home runs, and 39 RBIs
Luke Bailey, UCSB: 12-0 record with a 1.03 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 68 innings
Parker Vance, Southern Utah (Football): .342 average, 4 home runs, and 29 RBIs
PATRICK HENRY VS. GRANITE HILLS
The championship matchup opened with a tightly contested pitching duel. Both teams traded scoreless innings through the first five frames as two San Diego aces controlled the pace of the game. Luke Bailey got the nod for Granite Hills and attacked the zone with confidence and tempo,

For Patrick Henry, highly regarded ‘26 C Ian Brooke delivered a strong showing that included a double, another loud line drive, and a caught stealing at second base. Brooke has emerged as one of the top bats in San Diego following a breakout 2025 season that featured a .356 average, 3 home runs, 5 doubles, and 30 RBIs that helped him earn an invite to the 2025 West Coast ProCase at Pepperdine University back in June.

Led by Brooke, Gunn, and a deep upperclass group, Patrick Henry is expected to be back in contention competing for another CIF title in 2026.
THE DECIDING OUTCOME
The score remained locked at zero heading into the bottom of the sixth. Granite Hills finally broke through when Lewis reached base with a leadoff double, followed by two more Eagles who reached safely and loaded the bases with one out. That brought up ‘25 OF Parker Vance, already having a strong night at the plate. He delivered the biggest swing of the contest with a barreled line drive into the LCF gap that cleared the bases and lifted Granite Hills to a 3-0 lead. The triple completed a three-hit performance and sent the Eagles dugout and fan section at Tony Gwynn Stadium into a frenzy that carried into the final inning.

Bailey returned to the mound in the seventh and finished the job with the same command he held from the first pitch. The UCSB commit completed a dominant shutout with ten strikeouts. To add to the drama, Bailey ended the night celebrating the final out with an immediate back flip in front of the mound before being mobbed by his teammates.
