Colorado Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Third Basemen

Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted third basemen in the class.

Jackson Shepherd 3B / SS / Broomfield, CO / 2027

Shepherd is an athletic infield prospect with a nice blend of present tools and a high ceiling as he continues to fill out and add strength. We've already seen him produce some solid power numbers, including exit velocities in the mid 90s.

Finn Torvik 3B / RHP / Boulder, CO / 2027

Torvik is a big, physical athlete with plenty of strength to stick at a corner infield spot at the next level. Defensively, he can toss it across the diamond at 82 mph, while at the plate he's put up exit velocities in the mid 90s.

Johnny Komarowsky 3B / 2B / South High School, CO / 2027

Komarowsky has some of the best raw strength in the class, and utilizes a strong lower half to produce some nice power numbers. At the plate, he's been just under triple digits, topping out with an EV of 99 mph. Defensively, we've gunned him at 84 mph throwing it around the infield.

Talan Borcherding 3B / RHP / Legend, CO / 2027

Borcherding is an exciting upside prospect with some real potential as a two way guy. As an infielder, the present power is there, with exit velocities in the upper 90s and solid arm strength, tossing it across the diamond at 82 mph.

Brady Wright 3B / RHP / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2027

Wright is an athletic prospect with some nice present tools. Defensively, we've gunned him at 87 mph throwing across the infield. At the plate, he's been into the mid 90s with his exit velocities, and showed a nice feel for the barrel.
