Idaho Fall Preseason ID: Quick Hits
February 24, 2025
IDAHO FALLS, ID - The Idaho Falls Preseason ID was held on Saturday, February 22nd at the Bobcat Fieldhouse in Rexburg, ID. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2025-2028 classes to update their profiles with relevant data heading into the 2025 High School Season. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-Yard Dash using VALD Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Saturday morning.
We begin our post event coverage of the Idaho Falls Preseason ID with the Quick Hits. The Prep Baseball Idaho Staff broke down the players who made an immediate impression at the event with more highlights to come over the next week.

Tyler Ransom LHP / OF / Madison, ID / 2027Arguably the event’s biggest winner at the Idaho Falls Preseason ID, and Madison two-way, announced his presence on both sides of the ball with a loud batting practice session that saw him earn a Top TrackMan Exit Velocity of 98.0 mph, but Ransom shine on the mound where he ran it up to 90.1 mph from the left side with life and much more to come as he measured in at 5’11/149.3. The present actions on the mound, paired with huge upside because of the expected size and strength gains have skyrocketed him to prospect status with his name expected to be on more than a few radars heading into a big Summer for the 2027. |

Carter Bowen RHP / SS / BONNEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, ID / 2026The Bonneville product came into the Idaho Falls Preseason ID with excitement around him that he could be the next big arm to come out of the Idaho Falls areas. With Oregon State freshman standout, Dax Whitney, already making a name for himself as a freshman, the window is now open to East Idaho as place that can produce high level arms and Bowen seems to be an arm that is still scratching the surface of what is to come. His 91.0 mph TrackMan Fastball Velocity ranked him #1 out of both of the Preseason Idaho event and as has asserted himself as a legitimate prospect that should make some serious noise this Spring and should be a highly sought after arm heading into the Summer. |

Makai Jones RHP / 1B / Highland High School, ID / 2027The 6-foot-3, 195.1 pound sophomore has all the features in a projectable arm that we got to see first hand as one to keep an eye on as his game should only continue to trend as he hones in his secondary mix. With his fastball running up to 85.4 mph from a loose 3/4 slot, as the velocity continues to climb, we expect his changeup and curveball to only progress over the next few years. |
