Spring Rankings Update: Class of 2025
March 18, 2025
Official practices are underway and we are less than two weeks out from first pitch of the 2025 season. Our staff has made a quick update to the 2025 rankings as we near the season, most notably near the top of our list with four key risers in the top 25. Since most of the list remains unchanged, we provide some insight on prep draft prospects in the state we've seen this winter, &/or are hearing buzz on from scouts leading into the season.

Draft Notes in the Top 25
+ This will be a banner year for Indiana with some big named arms leading the way. Our top five remains unchanged with RHP Matthew Fisher (Evansville Memorial) still sitting as the top-ranked prospect. He will be a close follow as the spring progresses with real Day-1 upside & a chance to be one of the top high school right-handers taken off the board. LHP Caden Crowell (Valparaiso) remains in the No. 2 spot, a highly-athletic southpaw that reached 94 last summer with tons of feel and an uber-confident mound presence. Both prospects have future starter traits with feel, along with quality stuff to pair.

+ CF Brandon Logan (Fort Wayne Snider) remains as the top-ranked position player after shining at the Super 60 with a big breakout performance. Logan's 6.4 foot-speed & elite defensive abilities make him one of the top-ranked outfielders in the prep draft class. His bat has made big improvements and if the Super 60 is any indication, he is due for a huge season offensively for Snider. His dual-sport commitment to Notre Dame may create some signability issues, but it also speaks to the next-level athleticism that he possesses - a trait we are willing to bet on. The makeup is a plus, too, and the present tools create a safe floor as a premier defender in CF at the next-level. The bat ultimately determines how high the ceiling goes and the track record of development (and the + athleticism) makes those projections feel safe.

LHP Alex Barr (Kankakee Valley) and RHP Josh Flores (Lake Central) round out this group, each garnering big attention with crowds of scouts likely at their starts. Barr boasts a fastball up to 95 mph and an ever-evolving array of offspeed pitches, though his mid-70s, two-plane curveball with big depth holds true as the best. He flashed an above average change this winter & firmer slider, as well. The bat-missing abilities is what gets you in on Barr, and the same could be said for Flores at No. 5. Flores features a fastball up to 97 and a present plus, true 12/6 that he spins at 84-87. There is a 50-55 change in there on top of his best two pitches (FB/CB), and the overall stuff he has may be the best in this bunch. There is average control in total from the 6-foot-1 righty, but the pure stuff could shove him up boards quickly and the makeup is a trait to like with Flores, as well.

+ RHP Parker Rhodes (Greenfield-Central) is a riser jumping up amongst a tier of the top-ranked arms in the class. He showed big stuff at the Preseason Preview, including a fastball that sat 96-97 mph and a new-and-improved spike change that is a potential plus, amongst a five-pitch mix that also included a sinker, cutter, and slider. Rhodes is equal to the group above in the fact that he will be under the microscope this spring with a chance to fly up boards with strong performances. His quick, whippy arm, athleticism, and above average to better command are carrying traits as well, along with the big stuff he brings.

+ SS JD Stein (Carmel) remains at No. 7, the top-ranked shortstop in the class committed to Wake Forest with big gamer traits and an above average toolset to pair. RHP/SS Javy Carrera (Boone Grove) appears next, a Super 60 alum armed with a mid-90s fastball (T 97) & a supremely athletic, 6-foot-3, 195 pound frame. The Indiana recruit holds upside as a shortstop with big-time tools, and will be one of the more intriguing draft follows this spring. LHP Will Coleman (Castle) is another riser, a new face in the top 10 now at No. 9 in the class. Coleman is a flat-out winner that is gaining helium with a fastball that creeps in the low-90s, though his swing-and-miss change and present plus command are the calling cards here. There is projection left in the frame to allow for more velocity projections and scouts are likely to push him up boards if the velocity continues to climb this spring. OF Mason Braun (Penn) rounds out the top 10 with a bat-first profile that features present plus bat speed. There is feel to hit from the 5-foot-10, 210 pounder with at least above average raw power present.

89.5 heater avg, T 91, plays up w real feel for secondaries. Low-80s spin breaks late, upper-70s CH is a weapon.

+ RHP/SS Wyatt Pennington (Avon) continues to grab helium as a riser checking in at No. 11 in this update, with RHP Austin McNabb (Perry Meridian) following close behind. Both are must-see guys this spring for scouts. Pennington offers a fastball that may creep into the mid-90s this spring and an upper-70s slider that spins near 3000 rpms and gets up to 2-feet of sweep. McNabb offers outlier release traits with a frame to bet on at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds. I wouldn't be surprised to see either name called in July. Another couple intriguing arms include RHP Kellen English (Evansville North) at No. 18 and Will Jaisle (Batesville) at No. 19. English is 6-foot-10 with (possibly) the highest ceiling in the class, rumored to be in the low-90s in the preseason and there is sleeper potential. Jaisle shined at our preseason procase, up to 92 there on a sharp cutter with a 3200-plus breaking ball to pair.
+ A group of left-handed hitting outfielders offer intriguing spring follows in this group. OF Cal Gates (Bedford North Lawrence) is a gamer with a track record of success and an above average toolset in total, and begins the spring as the highest ranked of this bunch at No. 13. The final riser in this update, now at No. 15, is OF Peyton Dickens (Whiteland). Dickens gained big helium at a couple different ProCases this winter with his 6-foot-5, 180 pound projectable frame offering big projections to an already solid toolset. He is a 6.76 runner with a plus arm from the outfield, paired with at least above average raw power projections and solid bat-to-ball too. A big spring should shoot Dickens up boards even more and the same could be said for OF Noah Drake (Castle) following close behind at No. 17. There is big bat speed to like here with present above average power. His card is filled with tools, as well, including a 6.79 60 and a plus outfield arm. OF/1B Davian Carrera (Boone Grove) fits the mold at No. 21, a 6-foot-3 left-handed hitter with a chance to blossom, as does OF Brandt Kendall (Scottsburg), a 6.6 runner committed to Ball State with a chance to hit and hit for power at that.

+ To conclude, a group of infielders are worth noting. SS Mason Barth (Andrean) remains at No. 14. Barth is one of our favorite gamers in the class, a 2x All-State SS committed to Notre Dame. Barth will be a big 3-4 year follow in South Bend with a chance to be productive early in his career. Ranked at No. 20 SS/RHP Collin Osenbaugh (Shenandoah) offers big arm strength and a sweet left-handed stroke. The Louisville recruit has been up to 94 on the mound, and the arm is a real tool here. SS Huston Dunn (Fishers) appears at No. 23, a 6-foot-2 left-handed hitter committed to Ball State, and SS Joe Washburn (Creighton) follows close behind at No. 24, a plus runner who hits left-handed and is committed to Creighton.
