Charlotte MegaStar Scout Day: Pitchers
June 11, 2018

On Wednesday May 30th the Charlotte MegaStars held a Scout Day with Prep Baseball Report of North Carolina. The Scout Day allowed the players from the MegaStars program to run through a full pro-style workout with players collecting verified stats from our independent service. PBR Scouts were on hand to evaluate each prospect and players had the choice to add the evaluation and a video to their personal PBR profiles.
The updated statistics, evaluation, and video allow for a full PBR profile that can be shared with over 900 college coaches and Universities that subscribe to PBR. With college and pro evaluators on hand, several players stood out, and have developed over the past few months.
The final primary positional group we look at is the pitchers. A total of eight primary pitchers threw a lot of strikes on the day. Several intriguing younger body types that may be follows as they continue to add strength were part of the day. Lefty Anthony Alejandro (LHP/OF, 2019) flashes a lot of athleticism on the mound and in the outfield. Jordan Little (RHP, 2021) is lanky and projectable. His final three pitches of the bullpen sat 83-84.

Graham Brown RHP / OF / Hickory Ridge , NC / 2020
Lanky, thin 6-foot-1, 140 pound frame. Projection is left as he continues to fill out the frame. Fastball around the zone, erratic at times, sat 77-79 with some arm-side run. Average to slightly better arm speed working with a long arm swing to an over-the-top slot. Regular effort, with an average leg kick. Fights for rhythm while working level. Lands slightly across his body, landing square with the foot. Change-up has some deception with hand speed and arm side run. Feel for the pitch at 71-73. Breaking ball is around the zone, lacking command at 68-69. Gradual 11/5 tilt. |

Chase Drinkard RHP / 3B / Jesse C Carson, NC / 2020

Logan Harris RHP / OF / Olympic , NC / 2020
Average 6 feet 2, 195-pound build. Strength is present. Stretch only on the mound. Fastball is straight with feel for the zone at 75-78. Straight change-up flooded the zone at 68-71. Deception with the hand speed mimicking the fastball. Slider has side to side action at 71-73. Slows the arm some, with gradual break out of the hand. Around the zone with all three pitches, uses a short, loose arm action to load the scapular as he gets to a high-¾ slot. Smooth rhythm, working level and in-line. Lands square with the toe. |

Matt Heiman LHP / OF / Pinecrest, NC / 2019
Average 5-foot-9, 155 pound frame. Three pitches in the zone. Fastball is straight at 72-74. Change-up works off fastball well with hand speed and run at 63-65. Good feel with the ability to fade the change. Breaking ball has a slight hump out of the hand and gradual 12/6 tilt at 64. Some rhythm with a long, loose, over-the-top release. Slight crossfire in foot strike, staying level and working to finish in an athletic position. |
