Game Report: USA Stadium Doubleheader

On Tuesday, we traveled to USA Baseball Stadium for a doubleheader involving 3 teams, Briarcrest, Munford and Center Hill from Mississippi. This was another cold day w/ constant winds and fans bundled up for the entirety of their respective games. NICK JOHNSON / LHP / 1B / MUNFORD, TN / 2018FB (77-81, T82), CB (66-69), CH (72) - 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 15 K Southwest Tennessee commit had a huge day, recording a no hitter and striking out 15. Medium, athletic frame w/ present lower half strength, some physical projection. Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber. Quick arm. FB shows occasional arm side run. CB flashes tight rotation w/ above average depth. Shows feel for spin manipulation, showing loopier as a get ahead pitch and tighter as a put away. Mixed in one CH, showed some fade. Strike-thrower flashed ability to pitch w/ intent w/ FB/CB mix. Feel for pitching FB to both corners. Generated 16 swing and misses on 36 swings. |
