WIAA State Finals: Day Three Recaps

No. 7 Muskego vs. No. 6 Hartford Union

After three scoreless innings, Muskego scores first in the top of the fourth inning. INF Tyson Grulkowski (2026; South Florida) singles and OF Callen Tomsyck (2026) draws a walk to advance Grulkowski into scoring position for INF Danny Hauboldt (2025) who drove in a run with a base hit.

Two straight walks, one to INF Carter Nicolato (2026) and one to OF Aidyn Mueller (2025; McHenry County JC) with the bases loaded allowed a run to score. INF/RHP Dean Staudacher (2025; Wabash Valley JC) who drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.

Hartford would answer back in the bottom of the fourth inning. OF Kaiden Romens (2026) reaches on an infield walk followed by a double to the left-center gap off the bat of INF Ethan Birkel (2025) which would allow Romens to score. A base hit for INF Brady Walters (2026) and a walk to OF Jaxson Stater (2026) set the table for INF Aidan Kolb (2026) who singled and drove in a run. INF Carter Kutz (2025; Nebraska) and INF Brady Helms (2027) would both draw bases loaded walks to take the lead. INF Joe Landgraf (2027) would drive in another run on a fielders choice giving the Orioles a two run lead.

Muskego scored five runs on five hits in the top of the sixth to take the lead, Staudacher found the barrel for a two RBI triple to center field to tie the game at five.

SS Kyle Rogosienski (2027) would drive in another run on a single to center field giving the Warriors the lead.

RHP/OF Ben Kuglitsch (2026, Florida State) drove in another run on an infield single to extend the lead to two runs. After Muskego would load the bases the aforementioned Tomsyck would draw a walk to drive in another run.

Hartford would score another run, cutting into the lead on a Landgraf ground ball to the shortstop.

Rogosienski would drive in another run in the top of the seventh on a base hit to center field extending the Warriors lead to three runs.

Staudacher would close out the game out of the pen for the Warriors securing the victory as Muskego advances to the State Finals where they take on Badger.

No. 4 Sussex-Hamilton vs. No. 8 Badger

Sussex- Hamilton would get on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, set up by a leadoff walk for INF Nate Glapa (2025; Wisconsin- La Crosse), a single for OF Luke Lehnen (2025; Concordia University- St. Paul), and a walk to load the bases for INF Wes Spreng (2025). A double play ball would allow Glapa to come around to score.

Badger would score two runs in the top of the fourth, the first on an INF Ryan McCarthy (2025) base hit to left field to tie the game at one.

The next batter INF Bradley McCarthy (2026) would drive in another run finding the barrel for a base hit to right field giving the Badgers a 2-1 lead.

After giving up a run early on, LHP Gavin Stewart (2025, Kalamazoo) was nails for the Badgers, tossing six scoreless innings to finish off the game and securing the win for Badger as they advance to the State Finals, taking on the winner of Muskego vs. Hartford Union.

No. 1 New Berlin Eisenhower vs. No. 4 Reedsburg

Reedsburg would score early in the top of the first on a RBI double from INF Greame Pelton (2025) scoring INF Winston Alonso (2026) who reached on an error.

In the bottom of the third inning, New Berlin Eisenhower would answer back with a leadoff double for INF Caleb Johns (2026) and a single for OF Carter Hollenback (2025) which would set up a sacrifice fly off the bat of RHP/INF Sam Hirthe (2025).

Eisenhower would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth, after loading the bases Hirthe would drive in two on a single to center field giving the Lions the lead.

LHP Cal Schneider (2027) would take his start into the seventh inning striking out eight across 6.2 innings before being taken out due to pitch count and Hirthe would come on in relief and record the final out sending the Lions to the State Finals tomorrow.

No. 3 Seymour vs. No. 2 Aquinas

After a scoreless first inning, Seymour gets on the board first in the top of the second inning. INF Brandon Poch (2025) reaches on a base hit, steals second, and scores on an RBI single for UTL Brady Poch (2025).

Aquinas answers back in the bottom half of the second inning. A leadoff double for Isaac Schelfhout, a wild pitch, a walk for RHP/INF Waylon Hargrove (2026), and a stolen base has runners on second and third. A wild pitch by the defense allows both runners to advance, Schelfhout scoring on the play. A OF Ryan Johnson (2026) sacrifice fly brings in Hargrove.

Seymour would tie the game in the top of the third inning, with two singles to start the inning, first from Colten Nieland, and next by UTL Cayden Staffeldt (2026). After a runner is caught stealing, an UTL/RHP Xavier Salzman (2026) hit by pitch, and a Poch walk load the bases for the Thunder. A walk to C Micah Byers (2026) allows a run to score and tie the game.

After getting held scoreless in the fourth inning, Seymour would take the lead in the top of the fifth on a base hit by OF Carson Staffeldt (2026) to put the Thunder up by one.

Seymour would add to the lead in the top of the fifth scoring two runs on a bases loaded single by UTL/RHP Xavier Salzman (2026) to left field.

Nieland would toss the final two inning in relief, striking out two the final two batters of the game to seal the win for Seymour as they advance to the State Finals on Thursday.
