The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Madison Academy enters the 2026 season coming off one of the most successful years in program history. The Mustangs finished 35-9 in 2025, advanced to the Final Four, and posted a 1.70 team ERA, the best mark the program has ever recorded. Following that run, Madison Academy graduated a large senior class with six players moving on to play college baseball, marking a period of transition as the program turns the page to a new core.

Despite the roster turnover, the Mustangs return several pieces expected to play key roles moving forward. C/RHP Grady Moore (2028) returns after an impactful freshman season in which he showed defensive ability behind the plate while also seeing time in the infield. Moore finished 2025 with six doubles, one home run, and 21 RBIs, and is expected to continue contributing both defensively and offensively as his role expands. 1B/OF Walker Sellars (2027) returns as an upperclass option who adds experience and flexibility to the lineup. Younger contributors will be leaned on more heavily as Madison Academy reshapes its roster. RHP Weston Todd (2028) returns as an arm expected to contribute on the mound, while INF Chase Harris (2029) adds infield depth as the season progresses. With several new roles to be filled, development and growth will be focal points early in the year.

Energy and work ethic define Madison Academy’s outlook entering 2026. With a strong offseason following the graduation of the largest senior class in program history, the Mustangs look to establish consistency and build toward another competitive season in Class 5A. As head coach David Pressley noted, “We have had a great offseason after graduating the biggest class to ever play in the program. Our players are working hard with the team and on their own.” With continued development and a commitment to daily improvement, Madison Academy enters the 2026 season focused on laying the foundation for its next run of success.
