North Alabama Fall ID: Quick Hits
September 30, 2025
MADISON, AL - On Sunday, September 28th, the North Alabama Fall ID kicked off the Fall ID Tour at James Clemens High School in Madison, AL. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2026-2030 classes. These players went through an pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, Blast Motion, defensive workout, Vizual Edge testing, and more. Pitchers were able to throw simulated bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Sunday.
Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at some of the top overall performers from the showcase. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release other leaderboards and individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.

+ 1B Waylon Cole Troutman (Huntsville, 2028) was easily the most impressive offensive prospect from this event, as the physical 6-foot-1, 215-pounder delivered consistent hard contact to the pull-side throughout a loud round of BP. Using present proportional strength in the frame, Troutman seems to have low-effort intent to create easy strength off the barrel when he squares it up. The right-hander possesses a controlled load for timing with a medium leg kick and works the barrel on an upward path. Looks to impact to the pull-side and will continue to slug throughout his high school career. Led the event in mutliple offensive categories, including a top EV of 97.9 mph and a max estimated distance of 357 ft.

+ SS Connor Drake (Madison County, 2026) continues to flash quality skills throughout his overall game and will only continue to benefit with added strength and physicality to his build. Listed at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, Drake is a high-waisted athlete who shows smooth actions to everything he does on the diamond. His fluid right-handed swing consistently found barrels during BP, showing the ability to spray frequent line drives to all fields while topping at an 89.8 mph EV. The hands and feet work well on the diamond while topping at 84 mph across the INF during the defensive portion of the workout. Also clocked a 7.10 60-yard dash, as well.

+ RHP/OF Griffin Grigsby (Grissom, 2026) is another talented uncommitted 2026 prospect who looks poised for a big senior campaign in a few months. A 6-foot, 184-pounder, Grigsby flashed impressive two-way ability during this event and closed out a strong overall performance with the best bullpen of the day. A consistent strike-thrower in this look with the ability to repeat his delivery with smooth, clean movements, the right-hander lived 85-86, T86.7 mph with the FB that showed quality sinking action to the bottom of the zone. CB ranges 71-73 mph (T2369 RPM) with 11-5 bite and showed a 75-79 mph CH with dive. Offensively, the right-hander has some whip to the barrel and posted a top EV of 94.8 mph during his round of BP. Also topped 89 mph from the OF, as well.

+ OF/RHP Ben Roberts (Decatur, 2029) also emerged as a clear-cut winner from the event showing impressive two-way potential for the next few years to come. Listed at 6-foot-1, 169-pounds, the current freshman has a projectable build with quality components to build on on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the left-hander has a quick, level swing and keeps the barrel flat through the zone to be able to back-spin to the pull-side gap. Posted a top EV of 93.4 mph. On the mound, the right-hander has a quick, up-tempo delivery and an OTT arm slot that helps produce an 82-84, T84.5 mph FB that flashed some ride. Also has some feel for a 12-6 biting CB that ranged 68-71 mph. Quality name to keep an eye on for the years to come.

+ RHP Graham Segraves (Bob Jones, 2027) continues to look like an arm that has a chance to have a breakout junior campagin after getting some innings as a sophomore last spring. A 6-foot-1, 181-pounder, the right-hander has a unique, deceptive delivery that features a higher arm slot. The FB consistently lived 85-86 mph while topping out at 86.5 mph, showing quality arm-side run and some life when elevated. The CB spins at 67-69 mph with late 11-5 bite and spin rates topping at 2389 RPM, while the CH showing heavy-fading action at 67-70 mph. A junior right-handed arm to keep an eye on for this coming spring.
