South Alabama Fall ID: Quick Hits
October 7, 2025
ORANGE BEACH, AL - On Sunday, October 5th, the South Alabama Fall ID continued the Fall ID Tour at Orange Beach High School in Orange Beach, AL. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2026-2030 classes. These players went through an pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, Blast Motion, defensive workout, Vizual Edge testing, and more. Pitchers were able to throw simulated bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Sunday.
Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at some of the top overall performers from the showcase. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release other leaderboards and individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.

+ C Colton Boyd (Orange Beach, 2027) continues to look like one of the top backstops in the 2027 class in the southeast. An ultra-physical 5-11, 224-pounder with defined strength throughout, the recent Southern Miss recruit and former Future Games standout for Team Alabama has a strong, well-connected right-handed swing that stays through the baseball well. He uses a simple operation with a short, quick trigger for timing, allowing him to be on-time with each pass. The contact is gap-to-gap with evident power off the barrel, particularly to the pull-side where he recorded a 99.1 mph EV during BP, an event-best. An elite defender behind the plate with next-level skills and a 1.93 pop time and 81 mph C velocity.

+ SS Jacob Thomas (Orange Beach, 2028) has a chance to emerge into one of the top shortstops in the 2028 class in Alabama over the next year and appears to be on track towards doing so. An athletic 6-0, 177-pounder with a low heartbeat approach to the game, Thomas exudes smooth, clean actions in everything he does. He hits from a wider base from the right side and uses a short toe-tap trigger for load, which allows him to stay short and direct to the point of contact. The barrel stays level through the zone with a current line drive approach and future strength on the way. Repeats the swing well with consistent barrels during BP. Clean actions defensively and should stick on the left side of the infield in the future. A name to follow over the next year.

+ RHP Brody Jacobi (Saraland, 2027) may have been one of the more intriguing arms to throw in the event showcasing a quality three-pitch arsenal and athletic traits on the mound. Listed at 6-2, 185-pounds, the junior arm has a loose, whippy arm action out of a H 3/4 slot that helped produce a FB that consistently ranged 85-87 mph with significant arm-side run (17.4 in. avg. HZM) during his bullpen. The SL shows late bite and quality depth sitting a firm 75-78 mph (T2302 RPM) and also features a fading CH at 77-78 mph to round out the mix. A high upside RHP that has a chance to have a breakout spring campaign for the Spartans in a few months.

+ OF/RHP Jackson Chapleau (Homewood, 2027) continues to make massive strides and improvements to his overall game and put the tools on full display at the event this weekend. Featuring a strong 5-9, 196-pounder that has added noticeable good weight, the junior also showcases quality athleticism leading the event with a 6.79 60 YD during the workout. Offensively, the right-hander works the barrel on an upward path through the zone while incorporating the lower-half strength well in the swing, leading to consistent high exits off the barrel with a top EV of 97.9 mph. Showed a more gap-to-gap approach with a strong feel for the barrel in BP. Also showcased a strong arm from the OF working up to 87 mph. Has some two-way upside. Another 2027 name to follow this spring.

+ RHP Jacob Fisher (New Brockton, 2026) was a relative unknown coming into the event, but quickly emerged as a quality name-to-know uncommitted senior RHP for this spring. Standing 5-11, 199-pounds, Fisher boasts a strong build with present lower-half strength and a quick arm on the mound. Working downhill with some tilt and good intent, the FB ranged 84-87, T87.8 mph in this look while registering IVB metrics over 20.0 in. during his bullpen to help generate some extra life to the pitch. Also showed a late-biting 74-77 mph SL, a diving 80-81 mph CH, and a short, lateral-breaking CT at 82-83 mph that has a chance to miss barrels. Was in the zone consistently with feel for all four offerings. A hard-throwing uncommitted RHP to keep close tabs on this spring.

+ OF Evan Daigle (McGill-Toolen, 2028) was easily the most impressive left-handed bat to take swing during the BP portion of the event, as the 5-10, 207-pounder consistently belted balls deep to the pull-side gap with each swing. Using a balanced left-handed stance and a simple stride for timing, Daigle leads the a physical barrel through the zone on an upward path through contact and uses the present strength in the frame to impact the ball at a high level. Looks to lift and create damage with each swing. Posted a top EV of 96.0 mph. Fits the mold of a middle-of-the-order type bat who can create instant offense and drive in runs at a premium with extra base hits. Another 2028 name to follow over the next year.

+ C Christian Thompson (Alma Bryant, 2029) is fresh off a standout performance at the Junior Future Games in July and continues to showcase as one of the top overall prospects in the 2029 class in Alabama. An advanced 5-11, 198-pounder with present strength and high-level athleticism for his age, the right-hander shows current impact skills that few in his class have and has shown the ability to translate those into gameplay on multiple occasions. Using a controlled leg kick for timing that gets down early for timing, Thompson showcases quick, twitchy actions and real bat speed in the swing for a current freshman. Consistently hammering balls back up the middle during BP, the right-hander recorded a top EV of 90.4 mph in his round. Also clocked a 7.13 60 YD in the workout.

+ LHP Roan Wallace (Baldwin County, 2027) has already made some big strides on the mound in just a few months from the Yellowhammer State Games to this event. An athletic 6-0, 175-pound southpaw, Wallace showcased a quality three-pitch mix with feel for all in a deceptive, slightly cross-fire delivery. The left-hander sat 84-85, T85.3 mph with the FB that featured typical arm-side run and command for both halves of the plate in his bullpen. The CB was arguably the best secondary pitch from the event, ranging 70-72 mph with a 113 Sweep+ score and T2530 RPM. He showed the ability to sweep it across the zone and land it back-door against RHH as a put-away pitch. Also featured a 75-78 mph CH with heavy-fading action. Has seen a bit of a velo bump from the summer and keeps trending in the right direction heading into his junior season.

+ SS/OF Samuel Davis (UMS-Wright Prep, 2027) continues to show plenty of athletic traits and quality components to his overall game. A 5-9, 163-pounder, Davis lived on the barrel throughout his round of BP with consistent line-drive contact to all parts of the field. The right-hander does a good job of keeping the barrel in the zone while showing solid accuracy for it on a mostly level path. Smooth, clean actions in the swing. Recorded a top EV of 93.5 mph. Has a versatlie defensive skillset being able to play both in the INF (84 mph) and OF (87 mph) and showed well at both spots during the defensive workout.

+ RHP/3B Anthony Leverette, Jr. (Foley, 2026) was just solid in all facets of his performance during the event and showcased some intriguing two-way abilities in the process. Listed at 5-10, 183-pounds, the uncommitted senior features present strength in the frame and uses well in the right-handed swing. Delivering consistent hard contact gap-to-gap during his round of BP, Leverette, Jr. shows a quick, compact swing and a natural feel for the barrel. Posted a top EV of 91.9 mph EV. Possibly even more intriguing as a RHP, the senior worked up to 83.9 mph with the FB and showcased two real breaking balls in his bullpen. The CB/SL mix, both spinning in the low-70s and registering spin rates north of 2400 RPM, features distinct shapes and play well off the FB. Good makeup to this uncommitted senior, as well.
