Top Prospect Games (Upperclass): Event Preview
June 12, 2023
OXFORD, AL - The Top Prospect Games (Upperclass) will be held this Tuesday, June 13th at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL. Many of the top prospects in the Class of 2024 & 2025 in the state of Alabama will be in attendance looking to continue to make a name for themselves at an event that has proven to be a springboard for players looking to represent Team Alabama at the PBR Future Games.
Our staff will be using this event to select players to represent Alabama at the PBR Future Games & PBR Jr. Future Games. The Future Games is the summer's ultimate recruiting event for 2025 and 2026 uncommitted prospects. Last year's event was attended by more than 330 college coaches. This event will take place July 26th - July 29th at LakePoint in Cartersville, GA. Last year's PBR Future Games team featured seven players from this 2022 Top Prospect Games, and this year should be no different.
+ The 2023 Top Prospect Games has grown into one of the more premier summer events on our schedule and has consistently seen players earn invites to represent Team Alabama at the PBR Future Games at the end of July at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA. This year's event is once again filled with elite talent across the state in the 2024 and 2025 classes. Nearly every one of these players that will be in attendance on Tuesday is uncommitted, but that will certainly change over the next year.
+ Starting it off, RHP/3B Brendan Conner (Corner, 2024) is the top-ranked uncommitted prospect in the rising senior class in AL. Conner has proved time-after-time that he is worthy of that recognition, where it be at the plate or on the mound. The right-hander possesses a fastball that has touched the low-90s and can bang the ball around the yard at the plate with gap-to-gap pop.
‘24 RHP/INF Brendan Conner (@BrendanConner5; @Corner_Baseball) was easily one of today’s biggest winners.

+ One of the more impressive position groups in the rising sophomore class is the catching position, and two of the Top-3 catching prospects in that class will be in attendance at Tuesday's event. C Noah Blackburn (Mobile Christian, 2025) is a ranked inside the Top-10 in the most-recent update, and is regarded as the top catching prospect in the 2025 class in AL. The right-hander represented Team Alabama at last year's PBR Future Games and did more than hold his own playing against older competition, and will be headed back to the event this summer.

+ The other talented catching prospect that will be an attendance on Tuesday will be C Zackary Johnson (Bob Jones, 2025), who was far and away the biggest riser in the most-recent update to the 2025 rankings. Bursting onto the scene this spring, the rising junior impressed in multiple looks with his right-handed bat that drove in tons of runs for the 7A Patriots hitting in the heart of their upperclassmen-led lineup. He is one of our picks to click this summer and will look to have a strong showing at this week's event.

+ Possibly the top power-hitting right-hander in the 2025 class in AL, 3B Edward McLeod, Jr. (St. Paul's Episcopal, 2025) is another prospect that will be one to follow throughout this summer. Listed at 6-foot-3, 230-pounds, the right-hander has immense power to all fields and has a powerful presence in the box. Coming off of a spring where he hit over .460 with nine home runs, McEleod, Jr. will look to continue to one-up prior performances with a strong showing at this week's event.

+ In addition to the catching position in the 2025 class in AL, the group of outfielders that will be represented at this week's is sure to be star-studded, as well. OF Nick Richardson (Oxford, 2025) looks to be one of the top left-handed hitters in the rising junior class and served as the leadoff hitter for the Yellow Jackets, who captured the Class 6A State Championship this spring.

+ Possibly the best athlete that will in attendance at Tuesday's event, OF Jaden Charles (Hazel Green, 2025) possesses game-changing speed and showed glimpses of power this spring hitting in the heart of the order for the Trojans. Charles may be an under-the-radar prospect right now, but his 6.63-speed recorded at an event last summer and his ability to hit for some power with multiple home runs this spring makes him a high-level follow in the 2025 class in AL.

The first-ever Top Prospect Games event in Alabama was held in 2018 and the event has continued to gain popularity ever since.
