Draft League Spotlight: Liam Eddy

David Seifert
Director of College Scouting

Player: Liam Eddy
Position: RHP
School: Wichita State

With 15 career wins in a Shocker uniform, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-hander was off to a 2-0, 1.73 ERA in 2020 before the Covid shutdown. This spring, as Wichita State’s Friday night starter, Eddy has posted a 4.84 ERA through his first four starts across 22.1 IP with 25 strikeouts. He works in the 89-92 mph range with his fastball, and will touch 93-94 on occasion. Eddy has a very compact arm path up to a high three-quarter release point, landing on-line to the plate with fall to the first base side. He throws with a still head and lower effort which contributes to his low walk totals, just five so far in 2021. Eddy mixes in a top-to-bottom breaker in the mid-70s that flashes average on occasion. His 78-80 mph changeup is his third pitch that he will use mostly to left handed batters.
