Colorado Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 First Basemen

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted first basemen in the class.

Matthew Schimberg 1B / OF / Grandview, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 21 / POS: 2
Standing at 6'6 237 lbs, Schimberg is an imposing prospect who has the tools to go along with the raw strength. One of the best natural power bats in the class, we saw Schimberg's exit velocities enter the triple digit range before his sophomore season. |

Lars Jergensen 1B / RHP / Ralston Valley Senior High School, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 3
Jergensen has some legitmate potential as a two-way guy at the next level, with some present tools to like both on the mound and in the batters box. A high-upside prospect as he conitnues to add some strength to his long frame, Jergensen has already seen his EV numbers climb into the mid 90s. |

Anson Zeschin 1B / OF / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 4
Zeschin is one of the better athletes in the class at the position, and has an nice blend of present speed and strength. At the plate, his exit velocities have topped out at just a tick under triple digits, with a best of 99.3 mph. The strength translates nicely to the defensive side, where he's been gunned at 85 mph slinging it around the infield. |

Colton Johnson 1B / RHP / Cheyenne Mountain, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 54 / POS: 5
Johnson is a physical prospect with some present power at the plate. In our last look at him in a showcase setting, Johnson put up some impressive numbers and we've seen him continue to develop since. |

Henry Ihrig 1B / RHP / ThunderRidge, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 63 / POS: 6
Another guy with legitmate potential as both a pitcher and first baseman at the next level, Ihrig has displayed plenty of present tools to get excited about as we look ahead to his junior spring. At the plate, we've seen him run up his exit velocity numbers as high as 99 mph. |
