Colorado Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Outfielders

Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted outfielders in the class.

Jackson Crawford OF / LHP / Mountain Vista, CO / 2027

Crawford is an excellent athlete with an impressive blend of power and speed. At the plate, he's seen his exit velocity climb as high as 97.2 mph. Defensively, he utilizes his 6.77 wheels with great arm strength to lock down his spot in the outfield.

Colten Smith RHP / OF / Legend, CO / 2027

Colten Smith is one of the more impressive athletes in the class, regardless of position, with true college-level tools both on the mound and as an outfielder. At the plate, his max exit velocity is well into the triple digits, topping out at 102.3 mph. He also clocked an impressive 6.62 60 time, and was gunned at 90 mph throwing it in from the outfield.

Carson Reffel OF / OF / Legend High School, CO / 2027

Reffel is a physcial prospect with plenty of present power. Defensively, we've gunned him at 86 mph tossing it in from the outfield. At the plate, his exit velocity has been measured at as high as 95.2 mph.

Brody Logan OF / RHP / Chatfield, CO / 2027

Logan has put up great numbers across the board, both as an outfielder and a pitcher, and has some true potential to be a two-way player at the next level. As an outfielder, there's plenty to love, starting with the big time pop at the plate where we've seen his EVs climb into the triple digits. He pairs that with some excellent outfield defense, helped by the combination of 6.54 speed and an arm good for 90 mph from the outfield.

JC Smith OF / C / Broomfield, CO / 2027

Smith is another nice athletic prospect, who can play in multiple spots, but has the highest potential at the next level as an outfielder. At the plate, he's been in the low 90s with his exit velocity. He also displayed some good speed clocking a 6.80 60 yard time.
