2026 RHP SAM ELDREDGE (CAL POLY COMMIT)

Sam Eldredge RHP / 1B / Summit, CO / 2026

Eldredge resides deep in the Rocky Mountains where he attends Summit HS in Breckenridge, Colorado. This hasn't stopped the former Future Gamer from being one of the top arms in the state as the Cal Poly commit comes with a fastball around 90 mph with plenty of overall pitchability. In spring 2025, Eldredge pitched 55 innings with 103 Ks, just 12 walks, and a 2.42 ERA allowed.

OUR Q&A:

Prep Baseball: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Sam: The academics, location, and tenure of the coaching staff were all major contributors to my decision. After growing up in Breckenridge where it snows for 9 months out of the year, it was important for me to find a home where I would be able to throw outside frequently. Larry Lee and Seth Moir both have strong coaching backgrounds with tons of experience. This, along with the high-level of academics offered at Cal Poly made it really easy to commit.

Prep Baseball: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Sam: Run your own race. Don’t be a victim of your environment. Your career is not dictated by the actions of others, but by the results of consistent work. The ability to delay gratification and continue to show up even when it feels like you are not making any progress is what will take your game to the next level. Build confidence through following through on the things you say you will do. Even if they are small. Allow yourself to feel failure and enjoy achievement. Stay disciplined. Remember why you started training so hard in the first place. Be present. Give 100% of yourself to the task you are doing in that moment. Whether that is in the classroom, weight room, spending time with family, or on the field give that moment all of your attention. Have faith that what is meant to be will be. You don’t owe it anyone but yourself to accomplish the goals you set for yourself.

Prep Baseball: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Sam: Location absolutely played a role in my decision. I knew I wanted to go and play out west after having a few tournaments in southern California.

Prep Baseball: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Sam: The recruiting process really got going for me after the AZ Fall Classic my junior year. I had the opportunity to pitch in the All-Academic Game which gave me the opportunity to throw in front of a lot of high-academic coaches. This is also where Cal Poly first saw me pitch.

Prep Baseball: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?

Sam: Playing on Team Colorado during the PBR Future Games was an unbelievable opportunity that I’ll forever be grateful for. I got to see what the pinnacle of talent was not just in my state, but from all over the country. This event gave me the confidence to go out and compete against anyone, along with the elite exposure the event has to offer.

Prep Baseball: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Sam: I started to get very serious about playing baseball at the next level in 7th grade. I implemented a strict throwing and lifting routine that allowed me to have some success my freshman year. However, after my summer on the circuit with Slammers Duman I quickly found out I wasn’t as good as I thought I was. That following off-season I took it to the next level with the help of one of the assistants at Summit High School. That spring as a sophomore I struck out 17 vs a league opponent and was up to 88 mph. That game confirmed to me that I could continue to play the game I love if I kept working.

Prep Baseball: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Sam: The most memorable moment in my baseball career up to this point is winning the regional championship my freshman year to send Summit to their first state tournament. I threw 6 innings and had a 3 RBI double before Cesar Gomez closed the game out in dominant fashion. I will always remember the emotion surrounded with that victory. The game was played against Palisade who is a very strong opponent in the Western Slope that produces high quality teams year after year.

Prep Baseball: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Sam: I’m very excited for my senior year. I can’t wait to get out on the field with teammates I’ve had since I was 8 years old for one last season. Playing baseball in Summit County allows you to build strong friendships that have lasted my entire childhood. Besides that we are returning a lot of experienced players who have had success at the varsity level. With some of our pitching staff getting older and putting in work this offseason I think we have a good chance at another strong season. We feel like we underachieved last season and are looking forward getting back out on the field.
