2025 College Season: Impact Players From The Dakotas

Prep Baseball Dakotas has seen thousands of players at events across the years, with numerous making their commitments to play at the next level. Today we will be looking at the North and South Dakota natives that have made a big impact to their college programs during the 2025 season. 


PITCHERS

Marcus Phillips RHP / Sioux Falls Roosevelt, SD / 2022

UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE

In his second season at Tennessee, Marcus Phillips has been nothing short of dominant. In 77.2 innings pitched, Phillips struck out 93 and has held an ERA of 3.71 going into the Knoxville Super Regional. With a fastball sitting in the upper 90s, touching in the 100s, paired with an upper 80s slider, it is no supprise that Phillips is the projected 43rd pick in this years MLB Draft per Prep Baseball Draft HQ.

Jack Radel RHP / Sioux Falls Roosevelt, SD / 2023

UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME

In his Sophomore season at Notre Dame, Radel tossed 70.1 innings while holding a 3.58 ERA. The Sioux Falls native won ACC Pitcher of the week in April, Striking out 12 in 7 IP vs. Cal. The Fighting Irish's Friday starter will be Draft eligible in 2026. 


HITTERS

Bryce Ronken 3B / Sioux Falls Washington, SD / 2023

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY

In Ronken's second year in Brookings, Ronken hit .314 with 17 XBH and drove in 36 runs. Ronken earned First Team All Summit League Honors, batting .402 in league play. 

Charlie Kalbrener RHP / Fargo North, ND / 2024

IOWA WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Chalie Kalbrener had himself a heck of a Freshman season in Council Bluffs. The Fargo native batted .313 on the year, smashed 13 homers and collected 25 total extra base hits. Kalbrener was named ICCAC First Team All Region.
