Scout Blog
Graham Langan, OF, 2028, Cherokee
It has been all barrels this Fall for Langan with more of the same continuing across the Prep Baseball Fall Classic. The barrel was potent all weekend long with everything off the bat at 90 + MPH. There is budding strength in the athletic 6-foot-0, 178-pound frame with projection remaining. Barrel accuracy stands out for Langan with excellent length in-zone and ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field with authority. Fluid, controlled hands with present bat speed and great balance. Stays well-connected and subtly loads into his back hip that creates for excellent weight transfer through impact. Langan has hit in each look over the years and appears to be primed for a breakout Sophomore campaign with the Warriors.
Jake Brown, C/1B, 2026, Druid Hills
The uncommitted senior provided a huge impact in the middle of the lineup for Georgia Bombers throughout bracket play as they made a run at the Upperclass championship. Everything that came off the bat was loud with three base-hits all 95 EV + MPH. Including a 96 EV double off the wall, 99 EV pull-side RBI single, and a 98 EV 2 RBI pull-side RBI double. Loads of strength throughout the physical 5-foot-11, 205-pound frame, Brown stays extremely simple and generates a ton of strength from the ground-up with minimal wasted effort from a potent RH cut. Does an excellent job of staying well-leveraged through the zone backed by significant bat speed and advanced feel for the barrel as he caught multiple balls out front in a heavy pull-side approach. The swing decisions for Brown stood out with good pitch recognition and ability to do damage in all counts. The senior looks poised for a huge Spring campaign with Druid Hills and will be a good addition to a recruiting class at multiple levels.
Danny Lumpkin, RHP, 2028, Fairhope (AL)
It was a bullying performance out of the pen for Lumpkin as he struck out 7 across 3.0 IP to preserve the tight victory. Moves well and is an imposing presence at 6-foot-3, 211-pounds on the mound. Present arm speed on display from a repeatable compact arm action from a low slot that creates easy deception for the entire arsenal. Fastball jumps on hitters at 85-86 (T87 MPH). Slider compliments the fastball well with sweep and ability to land on the outer half for consistent swing-and-miss at 70-74. Two-way name to know in the '28 class.
Brysen Williams, RHP, 2027, Ayden-Grifton (NC)
The pitchability was on full display for Williams on Sunday morning as he tossed a gem to help his team advance in bracket play. As he struck out 14 with only 2 hits and an earned run in a complete-game on 108 pitches. An athletic mover on the mound at 5-foot-10,182-pounds with present strength in the lower half and creates easy drive down the mound. Works from a high three-quarters slot with repeatability and intent with each pitch. Williams possesses a bulldog mentality and pitches with a competitive moxie as he controls the tempo and attacks in-the-zone with excellent command of the three pitch mix. Fastball showed quality carry through the zone at 81-85 and got swing-and-miss when elevated. Slider is sharp at 72-75 with variance in shape for whiffs out of the same tunnel. Changeup used sparingly at 76 with depth and tumble and feel to land R/R. Pitchability is present with some projection remaining throughout and Williams never ceases to bring the energy.
