Prep Baseball Georgia Scout Blog: Week 2
February 23, 2025
The Georgia Scout Blog will be a weekly blog with reports and videos from the players and teams that we go out to cover each week. The blog will remain for the length of the week with notes being added the day following from each game. At the end of the week we will update the POWER 25 and CLASSIFICATION RANKINGS, then at the beginning of the following week we will announce Player of the Week awards, along with our Diamond Notes, which is a culmination of all players that were not selected for player of the week.
Week of February 17th
Chip Glogorski, C/1B, 2026, King’s Ridge
Uncommitted. Glogorski, a 2024 Future Gamer, continues to make a name for himself at the plate with some of the best raw power in the GA ‘26 class along with presenting a budding feel to hit. The junior backstop put together a huge performance Monday night going 3-for-4 with 2 1B, HR, and 4 RBI. There are some moving parts pre-pitch but Glogorski shows an innate ability to sync up and deliver a heavy barrel to seemingly always find solid contact through the zone. Glogorski really leverages the barrel well and maintains great balance, while creating good separation at the plate with explosive hands through the zone to generate significant carry to the pull-side. Holding natural strength within a physical 5-foot-11, 195-pound frame. Will be a fixture in the cleanup spot again this spring carrying a potent hit/power combo.
Taylor Markakis, OF, 2027, King’s Ridge
The sophomore lived on the barrel Monday evening and would go on to collect 3 2B. Presenting an advanced all-fields approach Markakis put together highly impressive plate appearances all game. Showing tremendous length in-zone with the ability to manipulate the barrel which allowed for the RHH to spray the ball to all parts of the field. As well as showing present bat speed with easy leverage through zone and impact in the barrel to match. A top ranked ‘27 in the state class that had a breakout season last year. Will be a key piece to the offense in the 3-spot while holding loud tools at the plate.
Kacey Shanks, IF, 2025, North Gwinnett
Brevard College commit. Shanks collected 3 RBI and was a Catalyst out of the 5-spot for the Bulldogs on Monday evening. The RHH would get on time with a slight leg kick and get the front foot down. Working up the middle of the field, Shanks showed a strong ability to match plane, which led to two hard-hit knocks right back up the middle. As well as presenting impressive hands through the zone while generating easy bat speed. Shanks will be a staple in the heart of a powerful North Gwinnett lineup this spring.
Pearce Henry, OF, 2027, Maynard Jackson
In his first at-bat of the game Henry nearly sent one out to the backside. Banging it high off the RCF wall for a ringing RBI 2B. Henry would later show the aptitude to work backside collecting an RBI 1B into RF. The RHH delivers a well-leveraged barrel with a direct path while generating loft that was evident from the first inning and so forth. As well as staying well-connected and creating good separation while being balanced. The present feel for the barrel stands out with sneaky strength to project on within an athletic 6-foot-1, 167-pound frame. The sophomore shined at Preseason All-State Underclass back in January and looks poised to have a breakout year batting in the 3-spot for the Jaguars.
Taver Harden, RHP, 2026, Dutchtown
Uncommitted. An imposing XL presence on the mound at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds. Harden put together a quality outing and showed an intriguing three pitch arsenal. The RHP has seen a steady uptick in velo over the past calendar year and came out firing a fastball that lived 86-88 T89. Which created swing-and-miss when elevated. As well as flashing a changeup at 79-81 that presented diving action with arm-side fade, which paired nicely off the fastball. Additionally working in a curveball at 76-77. Harden anchors the Dutchtown staff bringing forth present pitchability along with providing the ability to go deep into games. There is immense projection that is clear to see within the profile of the junior RHP.
Thornton Wilder, RHP, 2028, Maynard Jackson
It was a highly impressive first look at the right-hander entering the game in a high-leverage role. Taking the ball for the Jaguars with a one-run lead in the 6th inning, Wilder struck out 3 across the 6th inning and came back out in the 7th to strike out 2 more to secure the save. Wilder pounded the zone with an effective fastball/curveball mix. The fastball lived 73-75 with some arm-side run with feel to land to either half of the plate. The curveball was flipped over in the mid 60s. Showing the ability to tunnel well off the fastball with late break, while creating depth for in-zone swing-and-miss. A lean, high-waisted 6-foot-0, 145-pounds, Wilder deploys an effortless operation on the mound with a smooth arm action and clean mechanics to match. The freshman looks poised to be a driving force for Maynard Jackson’s pitching staff this Spring.
