Ahead of this weekend’s PBR Midwest Select, I caught a couple games to see the likes of C Hayden Jones (Carroll HS, IN), OF Grant Richardson (Fishers HS, IN) and RHP Luke Albright (Fishers HS, IN), among others. After landing in Indianapolis Wednesday, I drove a couple hours north to Fort Wayne to start the trip off with Jones.

A Mississippi State recruit, Jones didn’t waste anytime showing his left-handed power. He jumped on the first pitch he saw for a home run to deep right-center field. The wind was blowing out, but that ball was going to have some distance either way. He popped out in his second at-bat and then hit another home run to straightaway center field in his third. That ball carried with the wind and arguably went through a gate in center, as opposed to over it, but it was ruled a home run. It came in the sixth inning and turned out to be the difference in the game as Carroll won 4-3.
