2025 Prep Baseball Kansas Player of the Year: Michael Winter
June 16, 2025
With the 2025 Kansas high school baseball season officially in the books, it’s time to announce our 2025 Prep Baseball Kansas Player of the Year. In 2024, the honor went to Eli Lovich of Blue Valley West after a stellar season.
This year, the award goes to RHP Michael Winter (Shawnee Mission East, 2025; Dartmouth), who authored one of the most dominant pitching seasons the state of Kansas has ever seen.
Long regarded by our staff as a frontline arm in the Sunflower State, Winter entered the spring poised for a breakout senior year—and he exceeded even the highest expectations. The 6-foot-5, 207-pound right-hander saw his draft stock soar during a historic campaign in which he allowed just one earned run across 62.2 innings, finishing with a jaw-dropping 0.11 ERA and a perfect 7-0 record.
Armed with a four-pitch mix and elite command, Winter ran his fastball up to 95 mph and piled up 100 strikeouts while issuing just four walks all season. His dominance came against some of the toughest competition in the state, including outings against Bishop Carroll, Blue Valley Northwest, Mill Valley (twice), and Olathe East.
One of the defining moments of Winter’s season came when he tossed back-to-back complete game no-hitters, each featuring 12 strikeouts, against Shawnee Mission North and Olathe Northwest—an extraordinary feat that all but sealed his Player of the Year honors.
Congratulations to Michael Winter on winning our 2025 Prep Baseball Kansas Player of the Year Award!
