Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 First Basemen

Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted first basemen in the class.

Hudson Hardesty 1B / LHP / Lawrence, KS / 2027

Hardesty is an profiles with exciting upside to go along with some nice present tools. At the plate, he's displayed present power, with exit velocities in the upper 90s, topping out at 98 mph. He's also got good athleticism for the position, running a 7.06 second 60.

Jacob Stehley 1B / LHP / Wichita Collegiate, KS / 2027

Fresh off an excellent summer at the plate, Stehley will be looking to parlay that success into a big junior campaign this spring. The physical left-hander has an advanced feel for the barrel, and has displayed the ability to hit for average as well as drive the ball with authority, topping out with an EV of 100.7 mph.

Jake Bartley 1B / OF / Abilene High School, KS / 2027

Bartley is a polished hitter, with the athleticism to look comfortable both at first as well as in the outfield. At the plate, we've seen him reach the low 90s with his exit velocities. Defensively, he's shown off some nice arm strength, getting it across the diamond at 82 mph.

Aedyn Acosta 1B / OF / Bishop Carroll, KS / 2027

Acosta is a physical prospect with plenty of upside as he continues to fill out his long frame. There's plenty to like presently, with some good pop at the plate, knocking on the door of triple digit exit velocities in our last look at him in BP.

Easton Engelhart 1B / 3B / Mill Valley High School, KS / 2027

Engelhart is a big, physical prospect at first base, and profiles as a potential true power bat in the middle of a lineup. We've seen him get into the mid 90s with his exit velocities, and should continue to see those numbers rise as he develops and adds some more strength.
