Kansas Uncommitted Spotlight: 2027 Third Basemen

With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2027 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. Only a few months have passed since recruiting restrictions were lifted on the 2027s as they began their junior years, so there are numerous big names left on the board. Over the next few days, our staff will highlight five of the top prospects at each position, with a short breakdown of each athlete. First, we'll look at the state's top five uncommitted third basemen in the class.

Finn Moore 3B / RHP / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2027Moore is an athletic infield prospect, with a nice blend of strength and speed. At the plate, he's put up good exit velocity numbers for us, topping out at 95 mph. Defensively, he's got nice arm strength, tossing it across the diamond at 87 mph. He's also displayed some speed, clocking a 6.97 60 time. |

Collin Schmidt 3B / SS / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 34 / POS: 2
Schmidt has some legitmate potential to be a two way guy at the next level, already stacking solid performances both on the mound and at the plate. He's got plenty of strength already with room to continue to grow, reaching EVs in the upper 90s and throwing it across the infield at 87 mph. |

Taylan Ray 3B / OF / Olathe South Sr High, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 3
With a nice mix of present tools and a high ceiling, Ray is an exciting prospect to watch as he enters his junior campaign. At the plate, Ray has produced impressive numbers, running his exit velocity up to just a tick under triple digits. |

Ryder Zimmerman 3B / RHP / Maize Sr High, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 37 / POS: 4
Standing at 6'2 186 lbs, Zimmerman has a projectable frame to go along with some present strength and tools. Zimmerman has the pop at the plate to find himself in the middle of a batting order at the next level, already knocking on the door of triple digit exit velocities, maxing out at 99.5 mph. |

Levi Hansen 3B / 2B / Maize South, KS / 2027Rankings StateRank: 80 / POS: 5
Hansen has put together solid numbers across the board, and will look to see another jump this season as he continues to adds some more strength to a lean frame. Presently, he's put up EVs in the low 90s, and clocked a 7.15 60 time. |
