Q&A with South Carolina Commit Brady Stewart
January 6, 2026
A member of Team Kansas at the 2024 Prep Baseball Future Games, INF Brady Stewart (St. Thomas Aquinas) is one of the top prospects in the state’s senior class, currently sitting inside the top 15 of our rankings. A versatile defender with a 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame, Stewart has helped lead St. Thomas Aquinas to back-to-back 5A state championships, thanks for his knack to consistently find the barrel against high end arms.
We recently had the chance to talk to Stewart about his recruitment process, along with some other fun topics, below.
Our Q&A
Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?
Brady: I didn’t really know what to expect over the recruiting process. I knew that I had got some attention throughout the course of the summer but didn’t know what or how many schools would call. Out of a college program I was looking for a team that has a history of winning and coaches that believe that the players they recruit can have a chance to compete from the moment they step on campus
PB: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?
B: The things I like most about South Carolina is the coaches. South Carolina was the school that recruited me the hardest and the coaches all talked about how freshman have a chance to compete right away. Also it’s warm and in the SEC. I wanted to go see if I could compete in the best confrence in college baseball. They also have a track record of winning and expect to win each year
PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
B: I would say that you shouldn’t compare yourself to others paths but if there is someone who you want to be like, see what they do well and how you can make yourself better.
PB: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
B: Distance didn’t play a huge factor because I’m going across the country. It definitely did make it harder to make a decision but ultimately it wasn’t one of the deciding factors
PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?
B: The recruiting process for me started early summer going into junior year, but when it really picked up was [the] Future Games. Future Games is the best youth event that gets put on and that is where my recruiting got taken to another level. South Carolina first saw me in the batting practice during future games and then watched me throughout the rest of the games
PB: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?
B: Definitely [the] Future Games. With literally almost every single college in the country being there, it boosted by recruiting process a ton. At Future Games there is really nothing to lose. I got told by some coaches that they wished I didn’t play well at Future Games because they didn’t want other schools to see me play well. So you can really only help yourself there and I certainly did. I played really well and that is where South Carolina saw me play for the first time.
PB: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
B: Notre Dame, Arkansas, KU, Missouri, Nebraska
PB: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?
B: The best player in the state that I have faced is Michael Winter. His combination of command, velocity and movement makes him really hard to hit.
PB: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?
B: I would probably take Beau Peterson's power.
PB: Who is the next talented young player to keep an eye on out of your high school or travel program?
PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?
B: Freshman year when I played well for Aquinas and got first team all EKL I knew that I had a chance to go play somewhere.
PB: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?
B: The most memorable moment for me was hitting a go ahead 2 RBI triple in the 6th inning of the state championship of off Keaton Neal.
PB: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?
B: We are returning a really good core and have a lot of talent, especially on the mound, and should have a really good chance [to] 3 peat.
