Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2025 Diamond Notes (Week 3)

The Prep Baseball Louisiana Diamond Notes serves as an opportunity for our staff to highlight players, from across the state, that put up impressive performances on a given week, yet fell short of our Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week honors.
NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches from around the state. Pitcher of the Week (Week 3)

Jairus Miller LHP / Barbe, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 165 / POS: 12
It's not often that you go 2-0 in one week with 23 K's and end up not winning our Pitcher of the Week award, but that's exactly what happened to senior Jairus Miller last week. During Week 2, the Hill College recruit beat South Beauregard after tossing a complete-game shutout with 17 K's and then turned around on three days rest and beat Concordia Lutheran (TX) with a five inning shutout performance with 6 K's. The good news for Miller is that he was once again stellar for the Bucs last Friday in his start against Hardin-Jefferson (TX), which is why he's our Week 3 Pitcher of the Week. The senior southpaw tossed another complete-game shutout on 94 pitches (72 strikes & 22 balls) with 2 BB and 18 K's. On the season, Miller owns a perfect 3-0 record and 0.00 ERA with an astounding 41 K's across 19 IP.

Player of the Week (Week 3)

Hudson Browning C / East Ascension, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 3
The former Future Gamer has gotten off to a torrid start this spring, as he's seemingly been on the barrel in nearly every at-bat for East Ascension. Browning got things kicked-off last week against St. Michael's where he went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a HR, 2B, and 5 RBI's, and then went 2-for-3 with a 2B and 3 RBI's against Riverside Academy on Wednesday. The Spartans then kicked off the Jay Patterson Tournament with a Friday matchup against Destrehan, and in that game he went 2-for-3 with a 3B and a R. On Saturday, Browning went a combined 4-for-6 with a HR, 2 2B, 4 RBI, and a R against Ruston and Ascension Christian to finish the week hitting .750 with 2 HR, 4 2B, 1 3B, and 13 RBI's. Browning's overall season numbers are just as eye-popping too. Through 14 games, he's hitting at a .550 clip with 3 HR, 8 2B, 1 3B, and has 17 RBI's.

The Southern Miss commit endured a tough loss last Thursday against Archbishop Hannan, but was still stellar in his start. Richardson tossed 6 1/3 innings and gave up only 1 earned run on 2 hits with only 1 walk and 14 strikeouts. |

Gage Guidry RHP / SS / Vinton, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 99 / POS: 25
Guidry turned in another fantastic outing for the Lions last week in his start against Lacassine. The uncommitted junior right-hander tossed a complete game no-hitter with 4 walks and 14 strikeouts to lead the Lions to the 1-0 victory. He also went 5-for-12 (.417) at the plate with 1 triple and 4 runs scored.

Denton Hester 1B / RHP / Captain Shreve, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 2
A standout at our 2024 State Games event, Hester had a big week for the Gators in Week 3. On the mound, he earned the win over Pineville, after tossing 7 innings giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. He also went 6-for-11 (.545) with 2 doubles and 5 runs batted in.

Kenny Smith RHP / SS / Livonia, LA / 2027Smith turned in a quality start and earned the win for the Wildcats last Wednesday against Northwest. He tossed shutout 5 innings and gave up 3 hits with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts. |

Jamen Francis RHP / New Iberia Senior High, LA / 2025New Iberia won all four of their games last week to improve their record to 10-2 and Francis was a big reason why. He went 8-for-13 (.615) at the plate with 1 double, 1 triple, 7 runs batted in, and 4 runs scored. |

William Patrick OF / SS / St. Frederick, LA / 2025The state's top ranked prospect and LSU recruit was on fire for the Warriors in Week 3. Patrick went 6-for-11 (.545) with 2 homeruns, 1 double, 4 runs batted in, 7 runs scored, and also had 5 walks and 1 stolen base. |

Bronson Leaumont / Brother Martin, LA / 2026The uncommitted junior had a nice week at the plate for the Crusaders in Week 3. In four games, Leaumont went 3-9 (.333) with 2 homeruns and 7 runs batted in. |

Grant Gautreau C / Prairieville, LA / 2026The uncommitted junior backstop makes our Diamond Notes list for the second straight week for the Hurricanes. Gautrea was on fire all week, as he went 10-for-16 (.625) with 1 homerun, 5 doubles, 1 triple, and had 6 runs batted in. |

Will Andrade RHP / 3B / Holy Cross, LA / 2025Andrade was stellar all last week for the Tigers. He earned two wins on the mound, after 9 innings of no-hit baseball with 12 strikeouts, and he also went 7-for-14 (.500) at the plate with 1 homerun, 1 triple, and 3 runs batted in. |

David Flynn RHP / Ascension Christian, LA / 2025Flynn makes our Diamond Notes for the second week in a row, after picking up another couple of wins on the mound. On Tuesday, against Parkview Baptist, he tossed 2 1/3 shutout innings with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts to earn the win. His second win was against Archbishop Shaw, after tossing 4 1/3 innings giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. |

Reni Mason 1B / North DeSoto, LA / 2025The Coastal Alabama Community College commit had a massive Week 3 for the Griffins. Mason went 10-for-12 (.833) with 2 homeruns, 2 doubles, 8 runs batted in, and scored 10 runs. |

Jayden Benoit RHP / Jennings, LA / 2026The uncommitted junior right-hander had a really good start for the Bulldogs against Welsh. Benoit earned the win, after tossing a complete-game giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. |

Travis Adams OF / 3B / Sterlington, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 4
The Louisiana-Monroe recruit started heat up last week for the Panthers. In their four games, Adams went 7-for-15 (.467) with 2 homeruns, 1 double, 4 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored. |

Cade Dowden OF / LHP / Ascension Christian, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 344 / POS: 77
The uncommitted senior had a nice week at the plate for the Lions in Week 3. Dowden went 5-for-8 (.625) with a .727 on-base percentage and hit the go-ahead RBI single against East Ascension in the 6th inning. |

The Nunez Community College recruit swung the bat well for the Apaches in Week 3. Waller went 6-for-12 (.500) with 2 homeruns, 1 double, and also had 3 stolen bases. |

Cole Snell OF / SS / Benton, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 5
The former Future Gamer has been on fire to start the season for the Tigers and that continued in Week 3. Over 5 games, Snell went 8-for-14 (.571) with 4 doubles, 11 runs batted in, 8 runs scored, and also had 4 stolen bases. |

Dominic Pellegrin SS / Holy Cross, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 2
The Tulane recruit stayed hot at the plate in Week 3 for the Tigers. Pellegrin went 6-for-11 (.545) with 4 doubles, 4 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored to help Holy Cross move their season record to 12-0.

Maxwell Sanchez RHP / Prairieville, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 259 / POS: 59
Sanchez had another quality start for the Hurricanes in Week 3 that resulted in a win against Breaux Bridge. The uncommitted junior right-hander tossed a complete-game shutout and allowed only 3 hits with 10 strikeouts.

Wyatt Buratt C / 3B / Ascension Christian, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 128 / POS: 16
The Belhaven recruit came through in two mound appearances in Week 3 for the Lions. Against Parkview Baptist, he earned the save, after tossing 1 2/3 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts. Buratt then picked up the win against East Ascension, after tossing a complete game giving up 1 run and 0 earned runs on 2 hits with 1 walk and 13 strikeouts.

Chase Marcotte C / RHP / Destrehan, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 50 / POS: 11
Marcotte helped the Wildcats both on the mound and at the plate in Week 3. The sophomore right-hander picked up the save against East Ascension last week, after tossing 3 innings giving up 2 runs and 0 earned runs on 2 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. He also went 6-for-9 (.667) at the plate with 2 doubles, 5 runs batted in, and 2 walks. |

Thomas Allen RHP / Benton, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 7
The former Future Gamer was brilliant against St. Louis Catholic in Game 1 of their three-game series last Thursday night. Allen tossed three innings of perfect baseball with 1 strikeout, as the Tigers beat the Saints 18-0 in three innings. |

Hayden Millen OF / Benton, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 41 / POS: 10
The speedy sophomore outfielder continued his hot hitting in Week 3 for the Tigers. Over the course of five games last week, Millen went 7-for-15 (.467) with 1 double, 2 runs batted in, 8 runs scored, and also had 4 stolen bases.

Samuel Mitchell RHP / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 3
The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit moved his season record to 3-0 with a win against Archbishop Rummel in Game 1 of their three-game series. Mitchell tossed 5 shutout innings and gave up only 2 hits with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts. |

Kayden Boyer C / RHP / Denham Springs, LA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 67 / POS: 10
Denham Springs is off to an 11-2 start this season and Boyer was a big reason for their success in Week 3. The LSU-Eunice recruit picked up a win on the mound against French Settlement. after tossing 4 innings and giving up 1 earned run on 1 hit with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. He also went 5-for-15 (.333) at the plate with 1 homerun, 5 runs batted in, and 2 walks.

The Nunez Community College recruit had another good start for the Lions in Week against Central Catholic. Ryan picked up the win, after tossing a complete-game shutout allowing only 4 hits with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.

The Coastal Alabama Community College recruit had a solid Week 3 for the Wildcats. Lord went 4-for-11 (.364) with 1 homerun, 6 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored.

The senior right-hander turned in a stellar performance last week in his start against Dutchtown. Thornhill earned the win for the Wildcats, after tossing a complete-game giving up 1 run and 0 earned runs on 4 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

The Millspas recruit threw a gem last weekend against Alexandria Senior High to lead the Wildcats to the 4-0 win over the Trojans. Starns tossed a complete game one-hit shutout allowing 0 walks with 2 strikeouts.

Christian Turner OF / Haughton, LA / 2025The Arkansas recruit swung the bat well again in Week 3 for the Bucs. Turner went 5-for-11 (.455) with 1 double, 2 runs batted in, 4 runs scored, and also was walked 6 times and had 4 stolen bases.

Sawyer Pruitt RHP / Live Oak, LA / 2025The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit moved his season record to a perfect 3-0 with a big win last Thursday night against Catholic (BR). Pruitt went 6 2/3 shutout innings and struck out 13 hitters to earn the win.

He also went 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate with 1 double, 3 runs batted in, and 5 runs scored. |

Smith threw a complete game no-hitter in Week 2 against Acadiana and nearly did it again last week. The uncommitted junior right-hander got the start last Thursday against Loragner and tossed a complete-game giving up 1 run and 0 earned runs on 3 hits with 0 walks and 10 strikeouts to help Northshore move to 12-1 on the season.

Henry Beckers RHP / 3B / Parkview Baptist, LA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 49 / POS: 14
The uncommitted junior came through both on the mound and at the plate for the Eagles in Week 3. He picked up a save in Game 1 of their three-game series against Archbishop Rummel, after tossing 2 shutout innings with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Beckers also went 4-for-11 (.364) on the week with 1 homerun, 2 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. His homerun came in the bottom of the 6th inning in the rubber-match against Archbishop Rummel and tied the game at 3-3.

Miller Sheets SS / Sterlington, LA / 2026The former Future Gamer and Baylor commit swung the bat well all week for the Panthers in Week 3. Sheets went 6-for-14 (.429) with 4 doubles, 5 runs batted in, 5 runs scored, and also had 1 stolen base.

Lawton Littleton LHP / OF / Barbe, LA / 2027Littleton picked up his second win last week with a quality start against Hardin-Jefferson (TX). The sophomore southpaw tossed 6 innings and gave up 2 hits and 0 earned runs with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Dekohta Jones OF / Live Oak, LA / 2027Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 1
The standout sophomore centerfielder had a big Week 3 for the Eagles in their three-game series against Catholic (BR). Jones went 6-for-10 (.600) at the plate with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored to help the Eagles take the series over the Bears.
