The spring high school season across Delaware has come to a close, as Cape Henlopen took the DIAA State Championship with a 6-4 victory over Conrad. Another successful and highly entertaining season across the state, our staff was out in full force to see the action all spring long.
Below, our staff takes a look back at what was another stellar year across the First State and highlights the 'Player of the Year', 'Pitcher of the Year', and the 'Newcomer of the Year'.
Player of the Year
2025 C Jase Mitchell (University of Kentucky || Cape Henlopen HS)
Pitcher of the Year
2025 LHP Steven Donigan (University of Maryland || Caesar Rodney HS)
In one of the toughest races we've seen for an award in years, the recent University of Maryland commit took the slight edge in an intense four-man race. Strong performances in front of our staff and a stellar seven game stretch across the spring propelled Caesar Rodney to a first-round bye in the DIAA Playoffs. Donigan worked to a 1.34 ERA with 62 strikeouts over 40+ innings.
Newcomer of the Year
2028 C Mason Glover (Sussex Academy HS)
The physical backstop has continuously made waves across the state ever since his middle school days, and a standout freshman campaign has only cemented Glover as being one of the more prized prospects to watch for year to come. Slashing .455/.519/1.141, the number four ranked Freshman across MD/DE made a statement this spring and should only continue to skyrocket his stock as his high school career rolls on.
