Uncommitted Spotlight: 2021 IF Brandon Escobar
December 16, 2019
Brandon Escobar, '21, is an extremely athletic infielder that has bursted within the past couple months. After a successful summer with the Diamondbacks Elite Showcase Team (MI), traveling the east coast and experiencing some of the best amateur in the country, Escobar played his way onto the Dodgers Elite Scout Team, one of the few 2021's to earn that honor. He went on to hold his own against an elite, D1 prospect loaded CSN pitching staff that the Dodgers Elite faced throughout the fall in preparation of the Senior Fall Classic event in Arizona where he continued to spray the ball to all fields. Escobar is a scrappy, high energy prospect that will play a huge part in the success of a Green Valley team looking to right the ship after an uncharacteristic down year by their standards. Should he continue the positive progression he has made throughout the summer/fall seasons, Escobar will make his way onto the radars of more than a few schools. This is a prospect that could make his way up the rankings following the Green Valley Scout Day taking place January 8, 2020.

Scouting Report
2/10/19 -Developing, 5-foot-8, 150, Escobar has an athletic build with room for weight and strength gains. He displayed solid infield actions with capable arm strength and good carry on his on-target throws. He showed a feel for multiple angle throws feeding double play turns and on slow rollers. At the plate, Escobar maintains balance throughout a fluid swing. He made consistent quality contact, utilizing a simple approach while striding slightly closed. Not much too go wrong with the approach or swing. Look for this guy to be an offensive second baseman down the road.
