Earlier in the summer, there was a flurry of de-commitments among the country’s top 2017 prospects. Most latched on somewhere in recent weeks and 3B/RHP Joe Perez (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL) made his decision this week. He was previously committed to South Florida, but is now committed to Miami. Perez brought intrigue to the showcase circuit this summer, showing legitimate upside on both sides of the ball. He can reach the mid 90s on the mound, but also handles the bat and hit two home runs at the Area Code Games.
