LAWRENCE, KS—Plans and schedules can change quickly when it comes to high school baseball. After getting updates on pitching rotations, I delayed our trip to Kansas a day and extended it a couple on the backend. With Omaha, NE, just a few hours away, I decided we would try to get up there to see SS Cole Stobbe (Millard West HS, NE) on Thursday. Unfortunately, smoke from fires in Kansas was blowing into Omaha and schools across the city canceled activities due to poor air quality. So we headed over to Lawrence for the River City Baseball Festival. We got a good game out of it in Rockhurst HS, MO, vs. Shawnee Mission East HS, KS. Neither threw their top arms, but there was plenty to see on the offensive side.
