Q&A with Missouri State Commit Brady Yates
December 30, 2025
INF Brady Yates (Glendale) is one of the state’s top prospects, checking in at No. 2 in the Show-Me State and No. 135 nationally. An ultra-physical right-handed bat, Yates shows true middle-of-the-order potential at the next level, driven by a powerful stroke that has consistently produced since a breakout freshman campaign for an always-talented Glendale squad. Defensively, Yates displays smooth, athletic, reliable actions with a strong arm that gives him a chance to stick on the left side of the infield moving forward.
We recently had the chance to talk to Yates about his recruitment process, along with some other fun topics, below.
Our Q&A
Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?
Brady: I had simple expectations going into the process, I tried to keep my mind clear and not let anything negatively affect me. I was looking to find a place that felt like home, I was looking for a strong connection with the coaching staff and somewhere where I could academically succeed as well as I can athletically.
PB: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?
B: What I like most about Missouri State is the coaching staff. The personal connection I grew with them felt like everything I wanted.
PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
B: Focus on being the best version of yourself and the opportunities will follow. Always work hard, be coachable and never stop learning from the people around you. Mistakes will always happen, use them to get better. Never forget that baseball is a kid's game.
PB: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
B: I never had a plan on wanting to stay home versus going far away. I was looking for the school that made me feel like I had a second home, although Missouri State being so close helped influence my decision.
PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?
B: The process started pretty early, some schools like Missouri State would come and watch me during my freshman and sophomore spring seasons which kicked it off. The process really started to heat up during 2025 summer season, I learned that people are always watching.
PB: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?
B: I believe going to the Preseason All State event, Super Sophomore Games and the A’s Scout Day. Those events are where I stood out and first got ranked high. Future Games was a great event that really got me out in front of 400+ colleges as well.
PB: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
B: I narrowed it down to Mizzou and Xavier before finally committing to MSU.
PB: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?
B: I would say Brody Crane, obviously a great arm with a lot of hype.
PB: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?
B: I would take Zachary Dehaas' speed, him running a 6.3 second 60 yard dash is something I would like.
PB: Who is the next talented young player to keep an eye on out of your high school or travel program?
B: Charlie Habel, he is about 6 foot 5 and plays with me at Glendale. He started last year as a freshman and had a good year, very projectable with a bright future.
PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?
B: My freshman season at Glendale, I’ve always known to myself that I could be a Division 1 baseball player. My freshman season is when I broke out and it showed me that I have the opportunity to be one if I stay on the right track
PB: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?
B: My most memorable moment was winning the District championship with Glendale. It felt surreal because we had worked for it all year long.
PB: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?
B: We have a young team with a lot of new faces, so it’s an exciting season ahead. Everyone wants to prove themselves, and I think the energy and talent will make us a good team.
