With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2026 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the class. With plenty of talented players still available, our staff will dive in and highlight the top five uncommitted prospects from each position group. This time, we'll take a look at the five top ranked uncommitted catchers, with a short breakdown of each prospect.

Colvin provides a powerful bat as a physical athlete behind the dish. The rising senior produced some big numbers, headlined by a 99.6 mph exit velocity, when we saw him back in 2024, and has only continued to add strength since. |

Christian McNew C / 1B / Cape Central, MO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 92 / POS: 11
McNew ranks near the top of the state in terms of power at the plate, hitting triple digit exit velocities when we saw him back in 2024. As McNew develops physically, the athleticism will continue to take strides and his game right along with it. |

Derek Wilson C / 3B / Liberty, MO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 93 / POS: 12
Wilson continues the trend of powerful bats behind the dish, with plenty of pop to be a threat at the plate. Wilson has also shown some nice work defensively, with a pop time of 1.93 and a solid arm behind the dish. |

Teagan Trent C / OF / Logan-Rogersville, MO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 98 / POS: 13
Trent rounds out the list as a well-rounded, high-upside prospect. In our last look at him, he showcased a good feel for the barrel, as well as some present power, with a max exit velocity of 98 mph. He also showed off a pop time consitently in the low 1.90s. |

Laird Van Sciever C / OF / Francis Howell, MO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 112 / POS: 14
Van Sciever is a physical athlete behind the dish. At the plate, we've seen him produce exit velocities in the upper 90s with a good feel for the barrel. He's got solid athleticism, clocking a 7.07 60 time, and nice arm strength throwing it down. |
