With the release of the latest update to our state rankings for the 2026 class, it’s a great time to take a closer look at some of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the class. With plenty of talented players still available, our staff will dive in and highlight the top five uncommitted prospects from each position group. This time, we'll take a look at the five top ranked uncommitted first basemen, with a short breakdown of each prospect.

Cooper Montgomery 1B / OF / St. Dominic, MO / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 56 / POS: 2 Montgomery is a powerful athlete, providing St. Dominic with one of the top power-hitting lefties in the state. The rising senior has produced exit velocities in the triple digits, and has the athleticism to provide plenty of defense at first base.

Dawson Edwards 1B / 3B / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 61 / POS: 3 Edwards is a two-sport athlete, also starring at quarterback for Lee's Summit West. The ultra-physical prospect has an agressive swing that has led to some of the best power numbers in the state. He also showcased a strong arm, tossing it around the infield at 88 mph.

Drew Pickering 1B / LHP / Lafayette, MO / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 96 / POS: 6 Also a member of the basketball team for his high school, Pickering is a phsyical left-handed bat with enough pop to do damage in the middle of the order.

Anthony Wohlstadter 1B / C / Chaminade, MO / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 129 / POS: 10 Wohlstadter is another physical prospect with a prototypical first basemen's build, standing at 6'2 205 lbs. This summer, we had his exit velocity in the triple digits in his round of BP at the Missouri State Games. He has a solid arm in the field, tossing it across the infield in the upper 70s, with more than enough athleticism to defend his position.

Carson Bjorn 1B / RHP / Park Hill South, MO / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 178 / POS: 12 Bjorn is a huge two-sport athlete, splitting time between the hardwood and the diamond. The rising senior put together a few impressive offensive performances across multiple events this summer, showing off the raw strength and power necessary to be a threat in the middle of the order at the next level.
