Mississippi Fall Games: Quick Hits

GOODMAN, MS — The Mississippi Fall Games was held on Saturday, September 27th at Holmes CC that featured top talent from the 2026-2029 classes. Players went through a pro-style workout with TrackMan and VALD Performance tech, while pitchers threw in a bullpen setting and were able to get data and metrics on our TrackMan unit.
Some prospects built on past showings, while others made strong first impressions.

Hayden Mathes OF / Central Hinds Academy, MS / 2028Athletic young dual prospect with two-way upside. At the plate, Mathes shows a quick left-handed stroke with consistent pull-side line drives and the ability to find the barrel in game. Posted a 93 mph exit velocity, showcasing above-average pop for his age and size. Speed plays out of the box with aggressive turns and extra-base hit potential—recorded both a double and a triple in gameplay. Defensively, profiles well in the outfield with an accurate arm up to 80 mph, showing clean mechanics and good reads. Also flashes intrigue on the mound as a left-handed pitcher, topping out at 80 mph with natural arm-side run, giving him potential as a legitimate two-way prospect moving forward. |

Drew Bonner OF / RHP / Oak Grove, MS / 2027Projectable two-way athlete with a fairly high ceiling, especially on the mound. Long, lean frame at 6’3” with plenty of room to add strength. On the bump, Bonner features a fastball up to 85 mph, paired with a sharp breaking ball, showing feel for spin and pitchability. Significant upside as a RHP with clean mechanics and room for velocity gains. Offensively, shows developing power from the right side with a middle-to-pull side approach. Flashed impact bat speed with an impressive 97 mph exit velocity. Athleticism shows in the outfield as well, recording a 6.87 60-yard dash.

Colton French RHP / 1B / Ocean Springs, MS / 2027Physical right-hander with a strong, durable frame and a starter’s build. Fastball reaches up to 85 mph with some arm side action, working with solid tempo and repeatable mechanics. Shows a mature feel for the zone and a confident presence on the mound. Mixes in a well-developed changeup with noticeable spin reduction and deception, demonstrating advanced feel for the pitch. Projects as a strike-thrower with potential for a strong three-pitch mix as he continues to develop.

Lanston Kent RHP / SS / Saltillo, MS / 2028Athletic, projectable right-hander with advanced stuff for his age and considerable upside on the mound. Fastball reached up to 86 mph, an event best, featuring heavy running action that makes it tough on right handed hitters. Clean, repeatable delivery with whip in the arm action. Kent mixes in a solid changeup with deception and fading action, complementing the fastball well. Also shows the ability to spin both a slider and curveball, each with similar shape and late break, creating a consistent tunneling effect. With a lean, athletic frame and feel for four pitches, Kent is a high-ceiling 2028 arm to watch closely as he continues to develop. |

Lawson Stevens 3B / RHP / Choctaw County High School, MS / 2028Intriguing two-way prospect with raw tools and high upside. At the plate, Stevens posted an event-best 97 mph exit velocity, flashing loud contact and strength through the zone. Shows a mature approach, working middle-of-the-field gaps with consistency and leverage. Defensively, profiles well at third base with a developing arm and solid footwork. On the mound, Stevens is up to 80 mph with a projectable frame and a developing arsenal, showing feel and room to grow into more velocity. High-upside 2028 talent with impact potential on both sides of the ball as he continues to refine his game.

Colte Ashmore OF / C / Corinth, MS / 2028Strong, physical frame with advanced strength for his age. At 6-foot, 205 pounds, Ashmore already possesses the build of a next-level athlete. Shows pull-side power potential, highlighted by a 96 mph exit velocity, indicating significant raw power and bat speed. Compact swing with leverage; ball jumps off the bat when he gets extended. Runs a 7.15 60-yard dash, showing solid straight-line speed for his size, particularly impressive for a player who splits time behind the plate. Defensively, Ashmore exhibits good footwork and a quick release as a catcher, posting a 2.04 pop time, which will continue to improve with added reps and refinement. In the outfield, his strong build and arm strength project well. Overall, Colte Ashmore is a physical and versatile prospect with offensive upside and defensive value at premium positions. As he continues to develop, he’ll be one to watch in the 2028 class.

Cross Breazeale OF / 1B / Purvis, MS / 2028Projectable, lean frame at 6-foot-4, 180 pounds, with plenty of room to fill out. Breazeale brings a raw but intriguing skill set, and with his size and athleticism, there's significant upside. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash, with signs of developing speed that should improve as he continues to mature physically. At the plate, he features a middle-of-the-field approach, showing the ability to stay gap-to-gap. The swing can get a bit long at times, but there's natural athleticism and fluidity that suggest more to come as he refines his mechanics. A must-follow prospect in the 2028 class with tools that could jump quickly with added strength and reps.

Hayden Davidson OF / 1B / Jackson Prep, MS / 2027Long, lean frame with room to add strength. Davidson shows solid tools across the board with above-average speed and an accurate 80 mph arm from the outfield. Offensively, he features a mostly pull-side approach with a line-drive bat path and flashes of power potential (96 EV). While still developing, the foundation is there. He’s a 2027 outfielder with some upside as he continues to mature physically and refine his approach. A player to keep tabs on for sure. |
