Union Pines used a two-run third to take the lead and eventually advance in the NCHSAA 3A state tournament.  Both pitching staffs controlled the game with Union Pines Tanner Freeland working into the 6^th to earn the win.

Western Harnett scored a run in the first.  With one out, K Denkins singled and moved to 2B on Bradley Wilson’s walk.  C Welc singled to left scored Denkins.  Western Harnett did not threaten again until the 6^th, where they loaded the bases with 3 walks but Trent Marion entered the game for Union Pines and quickly induced a double play grounder to end the threat.

Union Pines scored 2 runs in the 3^rd inning with some aggressive base running.
