Luke Hemric Throws No-Hitter as Apex Friendship Shuts Out Green Hope
CARY, N.C. – Apex Friendship ace and NC State commit Luke Hemric delivered a historic performance Friday night, striking out 18 batters in a dominant no-hitter to lead the Patriots to a 4-0 victory over Green Hope.
The Patriots wasted no time seizing control, breaking through in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by 2027 prospect Connor Sousa, giving them an early 1-0 lead. Apex Friendship added to their advantage in the third when 2026 standout Braden Bloom led off with a double and later scored on a clutch RBI single from 2025 Hayden Fones.
Apex Friendship continued to press offensively in the fifth, with Belmont Abbey commit Connor Payne driving a ground-rule double to left-center, extending the lead to 3-0. The Patriots tacked on an insurance run in the seventh after Drew Ciacco led off with a double, stole third, and scored on a Green Hope error.
While the Patriots provided run support, the night belonged to Hemric. The right-hander was nearly untouchable, allowing just one walk while striking out the side in the seventh to complete his no-hitter in dominant fashion.
