Team Carolina Summer ID: Wilmington - Event Recap

Prep Baseball was in Wilmington, NC on June 3rd for the Team Carolina Summer ID, held at South Brunswick High School. These events serve as a crucial evaluation platform, giving players an opportunity to update their Prep Baseball profile with verified stats, advanced analytics, video, and scout notes — all gathered during a pro-style workout.

Athletes participating in a Summer ID also become eligible for future invitations to Team Carolina's premier events, including the Future Games, Super Sophomore Games, and Top Prospect Games. These invite-only showcases feature the top talent from across North Carolina, drawing attention from college coaches and professional scouts nationwide.

Workout Overview

The day began with laser-timed 60-yard dashes using the VALD timing system, which tracked athletes' sprint metrics at the 10-yard, 30-yard, and 60-yard marks. The system also provided speed-based insights into acceleration and top-end run performance.

Batting practice followed, with players taking live rounds while TrackMan recorded exit velocity, launch angle, and distance. BLAST Motion sensors captured pre-contact swing metrics, offering deeper analysis of each player’s mechanics and swing efficiency.

Next, players rotated through defensive evaluations at their primary positions:

  • Catchers showcased pop times to second base, while velocity and release efficiency were closely monitored.
  • Outfielders threw from right field to home, allowing scouts to evaluate arm strength, accuracy, and carry.
  • Infielders took reps from third base, shortstop, and first base, fielding a range of ground balls to assess footwork, hands, and throwing metrics.

The workout concluded with bullpen sessions, where pitchers threw full arsenals in a live setting. TrackMan provided data on velocity, spin rates, movement, and pitch sequencing, delivering a complete picture of each pitcher’s current profile and projection.

All players were filmed throughout the day, with video footage and analytics being added to their Prep Baseball profiles. These updates allow scouts and coaches to assess player development over time and provide a lasting resource for evaluation and recruitment.

Quick Hitters: Pitchers Edition

Cameron Copley SS / RHP / Voyager Academy, NC / 2026

Lean and projectable 6-foot-3 frame.  Long limbs.  Fastball has solid carry at 83-86.  Slider played with short, quick action across the zone.

Jack Cunningham OF / RHP / Eastern Carolina Academy, NC / 2028

Lean, athletic frame in a 2028 grad.  Plenty to be very excited about.  Stands 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. Potential dual follow but the movement is more polished and athletic on the bump. Long arm action, reaching out of the glove, working through a 3/4 slot with whip.  Fastball up to 85 with sink / run metrics.  Run measured over 15in on average. Slider is a potential weapon with horizontal action through the zone.

Kaleb Faulders 2B / OF / West Brunswick High, NC / 2028

Another young arm that should continue to trend up in the coming years. Loads the backside. Some uphill tilt in the shoulders as he works to an over-the-top slot. Fastball peaked at 79.  Big tilt on the top to bottom breaking ball.

Fisher Goodwin 3B / 1B / North Brunswick, NC / 2026

Intriguing dual potential.  Bat is leading the prospect but Goodwin threw a ton of strikes with solid through the zone.  Solid feel for 3 pitches in a simple and repeatable delivery. Fastball up to 85. Change-up has solid arm speed and fade.

Gavin Gray OF / RHP / West Forsyth, NC / 2028

Average frame. Youthful look. Stands 6-foot, 170 pounds. Short arm swing and over-the-top slot. Fastball up to 78. Downer breaking ball has good depth and should develop into a weapon. Curveball spin up to 2585rpm.

Nicholas LaCugna OF / RHP / Dixon, NC / 2028

Strength in the lower half.  Physical frame. Stands 5-foot-9, 185 pounds. Over-the-top. Solid arm speed. Fastball at 78 with sink metrics.

Will Parrish  RHP / Charlotte Christian School / 2027

Rankings  State Rank: 15 / POS: 4

Easy mover in an athletic 6-foot-3, 190 pound frame. Clean, athletic arm stroke, working level and online.  Quick arm. Simple and repeatable delivery. High-3/4 slot.  Fastball up to 91.  Hard, downer breaking ball.  Showed some feel for a change-up with run.  High level projection.  Potential MLB Draft follow in 12 months as he continues to mature.

Dylan Stacks RHP / 3B / North Brunswick, NC / 2026

Dual prospect. Good day with stand out metrics at the plate and on the bump. Frame has continued to add strength and quickness.  Solid mover.  Easy delivery - repeats. Fastball has average to above ride at 89-91. Slider works with horizontal action through the zone. Slightly early with solid length.  As he has continued to improve his strength and movement patterns stuff has continued to tick up.  Still room to the ceiling.

Robbie Sutton 3B / RHP / Topsail, NC / 2027

Average build with solid strength at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds. Fastball has run with solid ride at 75-77. Change-up has run and deception with solid arm speed.

Cooper Wilson 3B / RHP / West Brunswick high school, NC / 2026

Mature build - 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Over-the-top.  Top to bottom tilt on the breaking ball with spin averaging 2512rpm.  Late, tight depth at times. Fastball up to 82.

Wesley Wilson OF / LHP / West Brunswick High, NC / 2027

Left hander has some upside. Solid frame - 5-foot-10, 160 pounds. Fastball has some run at 75-78. Short arm swing. Over-the-top slot. Average to above arm speed.
