Uncommitted Spotlight: Luke Metzker

We continue our coverage of uncommitted players, spotlighting them to help maximize their exposure and assist them in the recruiting process. Today, we look at 2022 RHP/SS Luke Metzker (Bishop Manogue Catholic).

Body: 6 ft, 160 pounds. Lean, athletic build. Broadness in his shoulder. Some present wiry strength. Has plenty of room to add size. Athleticism shines through in each part of his game.
Defense: IF. Confident actions through the ball. Presents his glove well. Above average footwork allows him to play through the ball. Ranges well to both sides with comfort in the backhand play. Actions and arm strength should keep him on the left side of the IF.
Arm: RH. 90 mph. Short, quick arm action. High ¾ to over-the-top arm slot. Present carry.
Hit: RHH. Athletic set up with weight starting slightly back. Medium leg kick. Level bat path into the zone with some lift through extension. High one-handed finish. Power potential to both gaps. Produced line drives throughout his round.
Power: 90 mph Exit Velocity via TrackMan
Run: 7.27 Laser Timed 60

Delivery: Starts tall/narrow on left side of the rubber. Compact, clean delivery. Tall/tilt type. Strides on line to home. Throws over a high front side. Finishes with towards 1B line. Stays mostly upright through delivery. Still mostly a thrower. High upside with present size, arm strength and raw delivery.
Arm Action: RH. High ¾ to over-the-top arm slot. Quick, short arm action. Repeats well.

FB: Max 88 mph. Sat 84-87 mph. Max Spin Rate - 2347 RPM. Downhill action. Lives in the zone.

CB: 68-71 mph. Avg. Spin Rate - 2341 RPM. 12/6 shape. Tends to leave it elevated.

CH: 70-79 mph. Avg. Spin Rate – 1891 RPM. Some sinking action with slight arm side fade. Has feel for the pitch.
