As the staff at PBR-New York is ready to embark on 2022, let's take a final look at players that are ready to make that next jump during this year's Preseason All-State Tour.

PRESEASON ALL-STATE - CAPITAL REGION

Austin Caldwell 1B / 3B / Shenendehowa, NY / 2023

Rankings StateRank: 190 / POS: 19

What to expect: Sturdy frame at 6-foot-2 195lbs; showed pull-side power potential this past fall. Soft hands around the bag at 1B.
What we'd like to see: Expand his ability to reach the gap to the opposite field as well; continued improvement with footwork around the bag. Increased arm strength could open up more opportunities at 3B.

Andrew Crux OF / RHP / Mohonasen, NY / 2025

What to expect: Compact, athletic build. Quiet timing mechanisms with a slight uphill path. Fundamental approach in the OF with carry. Feel for the zone and 12-6 CB.
What we'd like to see: Continued building of arm strength from the OF and positionally. Let the swing be fluid from start to finish.

Joseph Trombley 1B / RHP / Shaker , NY / 2023

Rankings StateRank: 90 / POS: 5

What to expect: XL frame at 6-foot-4 210lbs; Power potential with frame and up to 84 MPH last summer. Strong to and through the point of contact.
What we'd like to see: Adjustability through the swing to shorten up when needed and use the oppo gap. Strong enough to drive the ball line-to-line. Continue to tap into the legs on the mound and build arm speed.

Andrew Gabriel SS / RHP / Columbia , NY / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 59 / POS: 12

What to expect: Two way potential as a 2024; athletic 5-11 165 lbs. Quick hands into the zone keeping the hands tight to the body. Aggressive up the middle defensively. Late acceleration off the mound.
What we'd like to see: Improved footspeed; continuous momentum build from the mound. Plenty of tools and quick twitch that can easily be molded.

David Fields RHP / 1B / Niskayuna , NY / 2023

What to expect: Lean 6-foot-1 145lbs build; short arm action while working downhill. Was up to 79 MPH last summer with more in the tank
What we'd like to see: Continue to physically develop; repeat delivery and allow for momentum to carry towards the plate vs. off the to the 1B side of the mound. Huge upside.
