Uncommitted '23 RHP/1B Joseph Trombley stands in at 6-foot-5, 230lbs. Extremely durable, XL frame with some feel for the body makes for a good velo and exceptional strength. Trombley moves very well in the box with a swing that stays tight to his body. With a peak exit velo of 91.2 MPH, the exit velocity may not reflect the strength that Trombley possesses, but his swing is smooth and does produce line drives and hard hit fly balls. Defensively, Trombley worked out at 3B in this event in March. Trombley plays fairly upright and bends at the waist to field. The throws across the diamond come from a long arm swing and an over the top delivery. Trombley posted an 88 MPH infield velo across the diamond so the arm strength is definitely there. Now, Trombley finally hops up on the mound and really shows where he is comfortable. Trombley works easy mechanics and gets out to his front foot with minimal use of the back leg. Trombley uses his XL frame to get more than above average extension on his pitches, making it that much harder on opposing hitters to pick up his heavy FB. The fastball holds best around 88 MPH but Trombley is able to run it up to 89 MPH. The interesting part about his velo is, he already worked out in the infield previously so by the time he got on the mound his arm wasn't completely fresh. Trombley flashes a CB/SL combo where the CB sits 69-71 MPH and the SL stays shorter and sharper at 71-72 MPH.
