2025 OHSAA Tournament: Division I State Semifinal - #17 Perrysburg vs #12 Springboro

AKRON -  Colten Muhlenkamp fired a two-hitter to send Springboro to the Division I state championship game for the first time ever with a 5-1 victory over Perrysburg on Saturday at Thurman Munson Stadium.

Springboro tallied two runs in both the second and fifth innings and added an insurance run in the sixth. Drew Davis and Vince Fortkamp had RBI singles in the second and Ben Veletean and Jacob Cane did the same in the fifth, while Fortkamp added another run-scoring hit in the sixth.

Braxton Mefford walked, stole second and scored on a BraydenHeitmeyer base hit in the fourth for the only Perrysburg run.

The 17th-rated Yellowjackets had a chance to go in front an inning later with the bases loaded and one down, but Ryan Rettig lined to first baseman Drew Davis who turned it into a double play.

It marked the second year in a row Perrysburg was beaten in the semifinals, losing 1-0 a year ago to eventual state champion Mason.

Springboro will take on Olentangy at 4 p.m. on Sunday with the winner taking home the state championship trophy for the first time in school history.
